Trump signs proclamation making Oval Office, Cabinet Room national monument

President Trump signed a proclamation Thursday making the Oval Office and Cabinet Room in the White House a national monument.

Trump noted Congress would have to ratify the proclamation, and that “no major modifications” would be able to be made to the rooms without approval from Congress.

“It’s a symbol of our country, and the greatness of our country,” Trump told reporters, referring to the Oval Office.

“If anyone ever decides to come and start knocking down walls, you call me, and I will come back here, and I will make sure it never happens,” the president said.

He’s still laser-focused on the issues that matter to voters.

I wonder if there is some security reason why he doesn’t want the oval office and the cabinet rooms disturbed? Another thought is, what if he wants to do major renovations in other parts of the building? But he wants to be able to say that he carefully is preserving what is important?

I think this is a smart move. We all know that the left will tear down the renovations and new construction, anything that was built (even with zero tax dollars spent). How do we know this? Because they have already done it with the wall. No one should be surprised if they start dismantling all or some construction projects.

He turned it into a more appealing and usable outdoor space, he didn't turn it into a driveway.

I’m sure the Congress who couldn’t pass an 80-20 issue will get right in this

I don't get how that grass wasn't replaced decades ago, it just wasn't practical at all.

It is kind of a good thing. In 2028 the House and Senate will be just as despised as they are now, if not more so, and the dems will be the ones responsible. Here is my prediction for 2028: President DeSantis and a huge red wave will result in winning back both the house and the senate. On the bright side we managed to get rid of Collins and a few other squishy RINOs and hopefully we can get rid of the rest in 2028 primaries. We should spend the next two years finding likable candidates to replace them, someone with name recognition. We could learn some things from the dems, other than how to cheat, like never giving up and for Pete’s sake we need to stop bad mouthing our own candidates. This was an expected loss but with a little effort we can come back even stronger in 2028.

I like the natural lawn and plants and trees better. You can always use temporary flooring. People do it all the time for outdoor events.

Why didn’t he proclaim the entire White House and grounds as a national monument? I guess he knew how stupid it would sound after all the wrecking he has done.
