The deputy attorney general for the New Jersey Attorney General's Office has been charged with using artificial intelligence to generate child porn, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office in Pennsylvania announced Thursday.
Brian Richard Fitzgerald, 51, was charged with multiple felony counts after investigators found that he allegedly used AI to generate child porn and shared the content on social media, according to the DA's office.
"No one is above the law, least of all someone entrusted with upholding it," Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan said in a statement. "Our office will pursue these cases aggressively and hold offenders fully accountable, regardless of their profession or title."

This is not some Joe Six-Pack living in a trailer park, this is the deputy attorney general for the state of New Jersey.
It seems the higher office a democrat holds, the lower and trashier they become. Think James Carville.
Watch this democrat get reelected in a landslide.
That is such a sad booking photo, I would wonder if he has sought the advice of a firm who have advice to present oneself in the light of a repentant soul>
Long ago, when our society was still mostly intact and based on Christian principles, people of dangerously low moral character were rarely found in position of authority and power. At least far more rarely than they are now. As we’ve been off course for a few generations, we now ave alot of messed up people in those positions. The messed up ones have been hiring other messed up ones for a long time, and this is the result.
Most of my career was spent in the public sector. In every position I had, my employment agreement listed ‘Moral Turpitude’ as a basis for dismissal. I doubt many people today even know what that term means, or understand why engaging in it should get you fired.
You know New Jersey is a great state when even the Deputy Attorney General doesn’t live in it.
Uh oh. Looks like we have another NJ public official who may becoming an Episcopal priest.
“...using artificial intelligence to generate child porn”
So there are no actual children involved?
How do you know? It is not listed in the story. So that usually means he is a Democrat. I know you can google it.
I am 200% in agreement this is disgusting, sick, perverted, and just pathetic and weird.
But, given it’s entirely fake and computer generated, how is it illegal?
Not that I mind it being illegal. I’m just wondering how it is any different than, say, a book and a movie about a 200 year old glowing vampire who bonks a high school girl? Same thing.

It’s scary and sad to think how far our society has fallen in just a few short years. For Democrats, this type of charge is considered a resume enhancer.

How was the model trained? By using real pictures of children.
I suspect the issue is more the distribution than the actual generating of the content.
On top of that he’s an idiot.
He most likely used an LLM model in the cloud, when he could just as well run an LLM on his local machine that doesn’t connect to the cloud, and the only evidence would be on your local computer, on a zip drive you could easily dispose of.
But again, it’s when he decided to distribute it via social media where he got into trouble.
Obviously the guy is a disgusting creep but since this is AI generated images it seems to me we are in uncharted legal water.
Carville? I’m thinking bill klintoon. You absolutely can’t get any trashier than that. I’m telling you, we absolutely must outlaw the RAT party and get rid of liberals if America is going to survive.
I'm assuming you're referencing a real book and movie?
I suspect most standard LLM models have guardrails embedded to prevent generating such material, but I could see where there could be LLMs you could download that are specifically trained on child porn with the expressed purpose of generating such images.
I was born in 1951 and became a Christian in 1970. It literally boggles my mind to see today’s America. It’s almost like we told Christ, our King, to leave and invited Satan to shepherd us.
“New Jersey deputy attorney general charged with using AI to generate child porn, officials say”
in the olden days, these kinds of top Jersey officials use to content themselves with just taking a cut to enable the Jersey Mafia ... now it’s just: me, me, me ...
Back then, you had to go out of your way to consume porn. Now it comes right into your home.
True but the core of child porn prosecution is an exploited minor. If the images are computer generated and no real person exists it seems to me the illegality is precarious. As a society it cannot be tolerated of course but it is in very provocative place from a legal perspective.
