The governor of Massachusetts is promoting a new initiative that would have nurses visit new mothers at home in the days after giving birth.
“Everybody in the state, when you have a baby, you’re going to have a home visit within days, weeks, and that will be an opportunity for a healthcare provider to make an assessment to see if you need some additional support and resources,” Gov. Maura Healey (D) told Boston Public Radio during an interview last week.
The initiative is part of the state’s plans to expand its Welcome Family program. Healey further proposed an additional $250,000 to the existing Massachusetts Child Psychiatry Access Program for Moms, which provides mental health support to providers caring for pregnant and postpartum patients, Fox News reported.
The postpartum visits would include screenings for depression and other mental health concerns, which is meant to help identify families who are struggling and may need extra support.
“To every mom who has struggled with her mental health before, during or after pregnancy, I want you to know we see you — I see you,” Healey said during a visit to Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, per Fox KTVU.
While some commenters supported the idea, others called it “creepy” and an example of “massive government overreach.”
“Doctors and pediatricians are more than capable to conduct appropriate screenings for their patients. Say no to home visits,” one response said.
“That lunatic can’t even tell you what a woman is. And she’s gonna send assessors into your home,” another person chimed in.
The program is voluntary, as many users have noted, but that doesn’t mean it always will be. The initiative has added more fuel to the debate over mental health services following the dramatic Lindsay Clancy case that dominated headlines for months.
In January 2023, Clancy brought her three young children to the basement of their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home and strangled them one by one with exercise bands. She admitted to killing her children, but defense attorney Kevin Reddington argued she was in the throes of postpartum psychosis and suffered a mental break while her husband, Patrick, was out running errands for the family of five.
She leaned on an insanity defense to try to avoid criminal responsibility for the crimes. More than three years later, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on September 4 after the jury became deadlocked and failed to reach a verdict.

This Leftist woman governor confirms society cannot trust mothers to take care of their own babies. Why should society trust other adult rights to such irresponsible women?

She spent 5 days in one of the top psychiatric hospitals in the USA less than a month before she killed her kids. She had an in person visit with a professional THE DAY BEFORE she killed her kids!

So will Mass provide daily psychiatric care for 9+ months after birth, including being an inpatient at McLean?

Guns would kill the children to quickly. They will be looking for exercise bands, scalpels, and other ways of killing slowly.

Psychiatry isn’t well developed. It’s low quality everywhere.
I kind of understand her killing a newborn but one kid was about 5 years old......Why kill them all?? Only very sad part of the whole story is “she failed at killing herself” IF it’s even true......she may have tried to kill herself with a butter knife. She is Gulity as SIN!!

Here's a partial list of the things prescribed for Lindsay Clancy:
- Lamictal (anti-psychotic; anti-seizure)
- Seroquel (atypical anti-psychotic)
- Remeron (tetracyclic antidepressant)
- Prozac (SSRI anti-depressant)
- Trazodone (atypical antidepressant)
- Buspirone (anxiolytic that alters brain serotonin and dopamine levels)
- Ambien (sedative with a significant list of side effects)
- Ativan (benzodiazepine sedative)
- Klonopin (benzodiazepine sedative)
- hydroxyzine (first generation antihistamine used for anxiety, pruritic, etc.)
- Valium (benzodiazepine sedative)
A majority of these were prescribed by nurse practitioners - including antipsychotics and antidepressants.
I'm not criticizing nurse practitioners etc., but when you are dealing with a resistant mental health issue and diagnoses like bipolar disorder, major depression, postpartum depression, and postpartum psychosis you absolutely need to have an experienced specialist involved - and careful monitoring.
I'm also not making excuses for what Lindsay Clancy did - though clearly she was getting the usual subpar monitoring and treatment that has become way too common post-’medical reform’. Throwing psychoactive medications around is in many ways no less serious than throwing scalpels around.

So after the State sends the DMV version of Nurse Ratchet and the mama kills her children the next day, the surviving relatives can sue the State for millions for negligence — after all, the mother can’t be responsible so someone has to be. Part of the settlement will end up as donations to Democrat politicians. What a plan.
That is why she should be convicted to LIFE - be it in prison or in a mental health place. No psychiatrist can EVER say “She has healed!” They don’t know enough to release her just as they didn’t know enough to STOP her BEFORE she killed her kids!
