The writer behind the New York Times’ controversial 1619 Project deliberately sent her daughter to poor Big Apple schools as a “sacrifice” to try to boost the education system — and no one is angrier than the kid.
The teen is now “boiling” mad — badly behind her peers after finally being allowed to enroll in a more rigorous high school, her mother revealed in a bombshell bizarre essay.
Nikole Hannah-Jones, 50, enrolled her only child in two struggling Brooklyn public schools beginning in 2015 — as part of a battle to change what she characterized as systemic racism, despite having the “connections and time and status” to get the girl into the city’s best schools, she wrote in the Times Magazine on Sunday.
That “status” included top-notch education of her own and financial security — she and her husband bought a $1.5 million Bed-Stuy brownstone in 2018.
By her own account, Hannah-Jones’ daughter Najya knows she was cheated by her parents.
“So you had money to send me to one of the best schools, and you chose not to?” the girl yelled in one fight, according to the essay. “Because other kids are disadvantaged, you didn’t want to put me in a great school?”
Hannah-Jones wrote of her decision, “We thought by sending Najya to a mostly low-income and Black school, we could help improve it for all the children there.

But after years of her daughter at the schools — PS 307 and Urban Assembly Unison, a specialty middle school — Hannah-Jones discovered her sharp-witted child lacked the basic skills to keep up in high school.

Nikole Hannah-Jones can be best understood as a self loathing woman of mixed race. Appears she was raised mostly among whites and no doubt did not emotionally handle herself well during her adolescence. She probably had a crush on some white kid which was not reciprocated. She hates herself, her own kids and still yearns for acknowlegement from the whites she purports to despise.
"Racism" is not the worst thing in the world. The worst thing in the world is doing something to harm your own children.

I’ve taught in a bottom-rank heavy minority school and yeah, the staff is in survival mode so that’s all the kids get taught - milquetoast material so the teachers will survive.

The ONLY positive thing that can be said is that NHJ didn’t exhibit the typical Lib hypocrisy of foisting useless public schools on the hoipoloi, and insisting on only the best for herself.
The daughter’s complaints read like your middle class complaints about public schools: Poor teaching, no accountability, over run with dysfunctional behavior problems that make learning impossible.
And NHJ is forced to admit that her daughter is right.
Punishment by proxy has been going on for a long while. The 70s and 80s college students were expected to move to the back of the college admissions line. Employees were expected to cheer promotions by minorities. Men are supposed to be happy women who can’t do the job get to boss the men who can. It is all part of the dehumanizing of anyone other than yourself which so afflicts liberals. They don’t realize (or more likely don’t care) that their punishment by proxy just creates another group of victims.

The role of a parent is to create the condirions where a child will either exceed the oarent, or at keast equal the parent.

It’s not hard to notice she offered up her daughter to promote her “ beliefs” but apparently they weren’t strong enough to offer her husband and herself to an apartment in the same area as the school.
LOL. This is extremely common in public schools these daze. Ignorning actual knowledge one way to achieve "equity". One also wonders if the teachers are capable of grading the material they are "teaching".
