Dario Amodei, the chief executive of Anthropic, called for a global slowdown of artificial intelligence development in a 3,800-word essay on Saturday, just days after one of the company’s employees quit over concerns about the safety of the technology.
Top executives of other major A.I. companies quickly signed on to the effort. Sam Altman, the chief executive of OpenAI; Elon Musk, whose SpaceX rocket company has been ramping up spending on A.I.; and Demis Hassabis, the chair of Google DeepMind, wrote in social media posts that they agreed on the need for a slower pace.
Mr. Amodei, who co-founded Anthropic to focus on securely and carefully building A.I., wrote in his essay that while he believed the technology could bring many benefits, it was advancing at too rapid a pace for researchers to continue safely.
“Over the last few months, I have become convinced that fully addressing the risks requires even more prudence — not just investing in risk prevention, but pacing the rate of capabilities advancement so that risk prevention has time to keep up,” Mr. Amodei wrote. “We must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of A.I. models. Progress will still seem fast, and we must make wise use of the time we gain.”
Mr. Amodei has warned about the safety risks of A.I. for years. But his essay amounted to one of the most full-throated calls for urgent action from a leading A.I. company executive to date.
He called for independent auditors to check the companies for safety standards and urged global cooperation in creating rules around A.I. development.

The AI “leak” will come out of the Wuhan Wet Market. From bats mating with Pangolins.
That’s like the rich guy saying ‘Please raise my taxes’.
Ever notice how China never talks about slowing down? 🤔
Bingo.

The Second World Scam
COVID was the first global scam. AI scaremongering will most likely be the second.
There is a historical joke here. What we call World War I was originally just the Great War. Nobody numbered it, because nobody expected another one. Only the second made the first “First.” Global scams will follow the same convention. The Great World Scam is behind us, and we are living in the inter-scam era.
The formula was simple: take a real phenomenon, exaggerate its scale, dominate the information environment, then sell extraordinary measures as the only responsible choice. The virus was dangerous enough to frighten people and nowhere near dangerous enough to justify the response.
If it worked once, someone will try again. But not with another virus – too many people have learned the game. And the ideal racket needs panic without destruction. You cannot milk a dead cow. Governments do not need dead subjects. They need productive ones. That is also why war is becoming a clumsy tool: why destroy wealth you can redistribute?
Climate is too slow – a catastrophe permanently scheduled for the future works as a framework, not as a racket.
AI is the perfect candidate. It is real, powerful, fast, and almost impossible for ordinary people to verify. And it concerns information itself – the clearest lesson of COVID was that whoever controls information controls interpretation.
The script almost writes itself. First come years of warnings from scientists, CEOs and former insiders. Then a series of incidents: a self-driving car kills, a chatbot blackmails, an algorithm crashes a market. Some are real, some exaggerated, some staged, and for the narrative the difference hardly matters. Then dramatic resignations. These are already happening. Then the big event: networks down, banks frozen, grids flickering. Nobody knows whether it was AI, sabotage or a bug – so whoever controls the narrative decides.
Then comes the solution: certified operating systems, digital ID, licensed hardware, bans on open-source models, limits on encryption, and remote kill switches in every processor. Every measure is a new market, and every market a new fortune. Fear first, control second, profit third.
AI does not need to be invented. Only the catastrophe does. The accident becomes an emergency, the emergency becomes a measure, and the measure becomes permanent – the only part of any emergency that never ends.
World wars were numbered. Why not world scams?
*****************************************************
And actually, this may be the 4th World Scam.
World Scam I - Climate Change. Still ongoing, but more not buying it every day. An environmental “emergency” that only higher taxation and more government power can fix. What’s not to like? If you’re a big government fan.
World Scam II - 2008 Financial Bust. Who all went to prison for that, again?
World Scam III - The Covid Scamdemic. I hope you’re not vaxed and boosted, and if you are, I hope nothing ill comes of it.
World Scam IV - AI fearmongering.https://x.com/Kristof_Poland/status/2098353780269920620?s=20

the commies in this country will never let AI or the data centers come into existence. AI requires I. Intelligence. Facts. they cannot tolerate that. After destroying the internet with lies they now want to attack AI. Except without the “I”, you just get “A”.
.
Xi smiles.
.Elon Musk just made a call that's impossible to ignore:
“AI will grow the global economy by 20 to 30%, around 20 to 30 trillion dollars a year.
Within 12 to 18 months, AI will be so good at everything digital that no human can compete, it will just crush all of us at it.
In less than 10 years we will have over a billion humanoid robots, each 5x more productive than a human. That alone would out-produce every human on earth combined.”
Just think about what happens to ordinary workers and the jobs that still exist today.
We have a couple of years left before AI moves into most professions and replaces a lot of us.
Learning AI and staying adaptable is the most important skill anyone can have right now.
That's exactly why i wrote the guide below on the AI features 99% of users have no idea exist, useful for both beginners and pros.
What happened to the DOGE money that was supposed to be distributed to the Americans? It sounded like a great campaign promise...
But now it’s down the memory hole....
Which campaign was that?
DOGE didn’t even exist when Trump was running for President in 2024.
The biggest problem leftists have with AI is its pure math pattern detection, like for example communism always fails, and people with a small prefrontal cortex, typically leftists, have severe impulse control. Ironically, AI combined with robotics is the only thing that can actually give leftists all the free stuff they demand, for the first time in history, on a sustainable basis. And like always, they want abort the baby in the crib.
A slowdown won’t happen with China. In fact our slowdown is just what China wants. This AI doomsday fear is something China couldn’t have done better. If anything, we should be working on ways to protect ourselves from AI shenanigans instead of becoming Chicken Littles wearing tin foil hats.
But what will the Chinese do?

Time to invoke Asimov’s RULES FOR ROBOTS.
The Laws
The Three Laws, presented to be from the fictional “Handbook of Robotics, 56th Edition, 2058 A.D.”, are:[1]
A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
No, this is a call from the losers to slow down the builders.
Kayfabe. All of it.
Here’s the essay by Dario Amodei (CEO of Anthropic) saying AI development needs to slow down:
