The Department of General Services (DGS) has been directed to remove all three Confederate monuments and memorials from Capitol Square on Friday, Aug. 28, including one of Confederate General Stonewall Jackson, one of Gov. William “Extra Billy” Smith, a former Confederate general and another of Confederate Dr. Hunter Holmes McGuire.

It was easier for democrats to lie in the past because the press was powerful enough to lie with and for them. Rush caught these patterns early and sounded the alarm. Now that 'the press' has been exposed as biased, lazy and corrupt it's harder for democrats to pull of their lies.

Wasn't the issue that Lincoln was in part elected on a pledge to not allow slavery in any new territories?

That was the basic premise of the Republican Party when it started in 1854--not to allow the expansion of slavery to any new areas where it was not already legal. The Dred Scott decision in 1857 cut the legs off from that position but the Republicans did not give up.

Earlier the Free Soil Party had taken the same position.

It was on Monument Avenue, which also contained statues of Lee, Jackson, Stuart, Davis, and Matthew Fontaine Maury.

The Ashe statue is now the only one that is left. All the others have been torn down and most are stored under tarps at the city of Richmond’s wastewater treatment plant.

Supposedly, these three statues are going to end up in the Shenendoah Valley. One will be at the New Market Battlefield Visitor Center. I’m not sure where the other two are going but they are supposed to be transferred to an organization that will place them in the Valley. We’ll see if the state actually follows through or decides to screw them.
