Hundreds of police officers from across England have been drafted in to restore order in Middlesbrough amid fears the town is on the brink of descending into a gang war.
Violence, believed to be linked to five young men who were killed in a wrong-way crash on the A66 on Saturday, has spiralled across Teesside.
This afternoon, armed police swarmed a house on the Bankfield estate in Eston after a 39-year-old man was injured in a stabbing.
A house was also rammed by a vehicle this morning in South Bank.
The suspected knife attack took place just down the road from a suspicious house fire in Grangetown that claimed the lives of Valentina Foster, seven, and 34-year-old Natalie McDonald yesterday morning.

The five youths who died in the Volkswagen Passat—which sparked the immediate escalation after crashing head-on into a police car—were identified as Michael Robert Cahill (23), Jakub Matusiak (23), Makai Saddington (18), Theo Rae (17), and Cole Robert Worthy (17). They were all local to Middlesbrough and the surrounding Teesside area

Those five young men were joyriding going the wrong way on a main highway. THEY KILLED TWO POLICEMAN WHEN THEY CRASHED INTO THE OFFICERS’ VAN.
Furthermore this was not the first time they had driven so dangerously. They post tik tok videos of them doing so. From what I understand it is a craze now among this youts to provoke a police chase by driving recklessly.
I have sympathy (to an extent) for their families. But for them? Their deaths probably kept them from a long future in prison.
Trust me in this case they are indeed part of the real problem.
