Democrats are likely to retake the House and maybe the Senate in November, which is reason to ask: What would they do with that power? One emerging answer is that they seem determined to blow up the Supreme Court.
Listen to Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, the betting favorite to be the next Speaker of the House. “The Supreme Court is a disgrace,” he said in April. “In the new Congress, we’re going to have to do something about this Supreme Court, and let me be very clear: Everything is on the table—everything to deal with this corrupt MAGA majority.”
He’s serious, and his agent for this task is Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin, who is already making an argument to pack the Court with four new Justices. Why four? Mr. Raskin has a gussied-up explanation that might sound plausible if all you watch is MS NOW.
“There are 13 federal circuits in America, and traditionally, the Supreme Court has been made up of the number of Justices equal to the number of circuits,” Mr. Raskin said recently. “We’ve got 13 circuits, but we only have nine Justices. So that means that under the best of circumstances, four entire federal regions, four federal circuits will be left out completely.”
The real reason Democrats want 13 Justices is that it’s the number required to tilt the Court left under a new 7-6 majority. Yet it’s worth examining Mr. Raskin’s sales pitch to see its obvious insincerity. It’s true the Justices once spent part of each year traveling a judicial circuit to hear cases, but this practice of “riding circuit” effectively ended in 1891.

I quit reading this after the first sentence.
What I’d really like is for the GOP have just a slight majority. That way they’ll think leftism still has a chance if they just kick some more of their own butts.
Gonna need a biologist to figure out all this.
Even more effective would be to eliminate the associate justice seats and then reconstitute them.
If that’s the way they want to play, we can play that game as well.
Unfortunately that would pretty much blow up our constitutional system of government to have that kind of “tit for tat” use of the Court system. The Democrats are literally insane.

It’s being optionally applied now almost every day.

Nobody will pay any attention to a packed court. 7-6 rulings will be ignored as illegitimate, as they should be.
That's why nobody has packed the court, not even FDR.
Nine has been the number of SCOTUS Justices since this number was codified by Congress in 1869.
As far as I'm concerned that is like promising to wreck the Edmund Fitzgerald.
There are only two Justices on it with a passing familiarity with the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and a desire to respect it.
Some of the rest of them occasionally make a correct decision, but when they do, it is more of an accident than an actual intent.
I’d just be happy if they would appoint judges. One thing I do admire about Democrats as they focus on judges. Republicans always miss opportunities to put judges on the court. Yes, we do fine with the Supreme Court, but boy, Obama and Biden have so many judges on the rest of the courts that has hurt Trump badly and even with that knowledge, the Republicans still aren’t making appointing judges a priority.
Republicans could right volumes on how to fail even when they hold the winning hand. It’s disgusting really. You remember how Nancy and Barry went to the extreme to foist Obamacare on us? Republicans haven’t fought for anything that hard in my entire lifetime.

The whole point is to prevent Republicans regaining power.
At that point, voting our way out will be permanently closed off.
Trump should admit that packing the Supreme Court is actually a good idea, and proceed to add at least 4 more judges immediately. Thune needs to get rid of the Senate Filibuster, and sail them through with a simple majority. Thank you, Harry Reid.
