A convicted murderer who federal authorities say was working as a taxpayer-funded “Peace Ambassador” for the City of Los Angeles was arrested Friday for allegedly illegally possessing body armor near MacArthur Park.
Michael Angel Alvarez, 41, also known as “Diablo,” was charged in a federal criminal complaint with possession of body armor by a violent felon, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Federal investigators allege Alvarez was an active member and leader of the 18th Street gang while working through Healing Urban Barrios, a Lincoln Heights-based organization contracted by the city for its Peace Ambassador program in Council District 1, which includes MacArthur Park.
The Peace Ambassador initiative is described by the city as a violence prevention program staffed by “two unarmed workers who have lived experience in the justice or gang systems and are trained in violence prevention and trauma-informed care.”

LOL. I don't know how many stories I've read about some murderer or drug dealer being put in role like this without giving up their past life. It happens so often that its a joke. The gang member who is named a gang mediator or youth counselor or "peace ambassador" who is still dealing drugs or working an extortion racket or killing people. There was a story about a week ago about a woman who was running an at risk youth center who got some award who was dealing drugs to kids. If you see a "Peace Ambassador" coming your way, run in the opposite direction as fast as you can.

She is up for re-election - and all for defunding the police and sending in "unarmed crisis response teams" - like the drug addict "peace keeper" who was just re-arrested.
She will be re-elected b/c this is exactly what her voters want - a crime-ridden, filthy area overrun with homeless, trash and used needles.
Given he was “working” at MacArthur Park, wearing body armor sounds like a prudent decision...
LA is a collection of minorities that have little or no knowledge or allegiance to America and neo pagan hedonistic , drug using whites. Only sympathy is for the decent ,hard working people who by economic or familial necessities are unable to move.
