Dr. Mehmet Oz, President Donald Trump’s point man for Medicare and Medicaid, says the billions of entitlement fraud being uncovered in Democrat states may be intentionally driven by politics rather than incompetence.
“I do think it's a feature for some of these states,” Oz told Just the News in a wide-ranging interview Thursday night in which he detailed why the administration led by Vice President JD Vance temporarily pulled $1.3 billion in Medicaid funding from California and uncovered foreign fraudsters stealing taxpayer welfare monies.
“Republicans always suspected there was fraud of this magnitude. Democrats feel embarrassed that it's gotten this bad, and they don't know what happened to all the money they thought they were helping people with. So it's a great issue for us to drive home,” he said.

Oz announced this week his agency shut down 800 hospice centers suspected of being empty, fraudulent shells.
“It highlights the reality that the fraud had actually created such a deep corruption, such a deep rot in the system, that when someone finally began to take action, they all scurried like rats into the corners. They never thought anybody would come after them,” he said.

They know FULLY what’s happening as they’ve negotiated the terms of the deals. “You get X dollars per year. You will kick up Y% of that money to us via the following conduits ...”

As it happens, Medicare and Medicaid are both easy to enter as providers and to generate billings that get paid. In addition, Medicaid operates under a "pay and chase" accounting system in which erroneous and even plainly suspect billings are automatically paid, with the burden on the government to investigate and prove that the money is due back to the Medicaid program.
And, as one must suspect, political influence from Democrats helps to rig the system in favor of fraud. In one instance, as an attorney for a state social services program, I learned that an especially dodgy and fraud friendly rule about nursing home construction costs was dictated by a contractor who was a key supporter of Democrat Senator Fritz Hollings. As it happened, at Hollings' insistence, the terms of the rule were dictated to the federal bureaucrats by the contractor.
In sum, the auditors, inspectors general, and oversight commissions were handicapped by Congress and state level politicians. There was even a prohibition on the use of data mining to investigate fraud. Trillions of dollars were stolen with the connivance of government itself.
Being paid off, compromised and threatened into looking the other way?
The only way these fraud schemes could ever get this massive is that democrats were in control of all branches and especially the investigation and enforcement channels. They certainly weren't going to investigate and expose their party's hustle that funded all the leftist causes like 'get out the vote' for example. It's worked like a charm for a long long time and we're out hundreds of billions of dollars because of it.
Kambiz Merabi, owner of the “Merabi Professional Medical Plaza” in Van Nuys, California, has not been charged with Medicare fraud, but his building is currently at the center of a massive investigation into “ghost hospices”.
State records showed 89 licensed hospice companies registered at Merabi’s single three-story building, though Merabi claims “his own records only show 12 hospices.”
Merabi’s tax returns might explain the discrepancy.
CBS News investigations found many of Merabi’s offices empty, with unopened mail and dead phone lines—indicators of shell companies that fraudulently bill Medicare for services never provided yet pocket millions in tax dollars.
Merabi’s company website actually advertised “virtual offices” for $99 a month.......with Merabi providing a professional street address and suite number for businesses to use on official documents.
Federal regulators found nearly 400 violations at 75 companies within the Merabi building between 2021 and 2025, including cases where CYA reports chronicled phantom patients billed for medications they never took and “social workers” wrote about “grief” for non-existent patients who were not actually dead.
Merabi has denied any wrongding .......even denying his own opersonal association with the hospice companies. He crafted a demonstrable fraud stating to CBS News

The broader Medicare crackdown, known as “Operation Never Say Die,” has resulted in charges against dozens of individuals in Southern California—including doctors and nurses—but as of now, no charges have been filed against Merabi, the building’s owner.
Merabi’s tax returns.....”if filed”..... might explain the extent of the fraud.
