Loathing of Trump drives liberals to back a very flawed Maine Democrat
The Hill ^ | 05-15-26 | Bernard Goldberg

If you want to know how far some liberals are willing to go to register their fear and loathing of President Trump, just read the recent opinion piece by Frank Bruni in the New York Times.

(...)

Platner has said he is a communist. He said cops are bastards. He called people who post online “retarded.” He said war was “the most enjoyable experience of my life.” Working as a bartender, he wondered “Why don’t black people tip?” And speaking about women who are concerned about sexual assault, he wrote that “Rape is a real thing. If you’re so worried about it … you might not get blacked out f—–d up around people you aren’t comfortable with.”

With credentials like this, who wouldn't endorse the guy? ( /sarc )

First Fetterman then Jay Jones (VA AG), now this guy.

Every time I think the Democrats COULDN'T elect a guy less electable, they find scum like this to endorse... and they win! God help us!

Woke Democrats are so insane and childish.

Here in NY, you have state assemblymen and county commissioners running ads solely on how they will “oppose Trump” - as if there were ANYTHING in their purview and area of responsibility that was remotely connected to Trump.

November is going to be a freaking nightmare election. America is going to be faced with decades of chaos and radicalism as the democrats go on a revenge hell ride.

But as long as Israel gets it’s foreign policy needs met....I guess it’s worth it!

All the leftie “No Kings” dingbats are running around with Platner buttons.

Look at the clowns these people have elected the last 15 years, and don’t underestimate this guy’s chances.

Woke Democrats are not just childish. They are viciously self-righteous and dangerous. They would rather stick a hot poker in their eye than to ever admit that they aren’t the holders of ‘truth’. Modern liberalism is a cult. Without question. They are so self-convinced and so much need to think of themselves as the ‘intelligent, moral, superior people of the world that they are extremely dangerous. They seem clueless regarding the number of people whose lives they’ve destroyed.

Working as a bartender, he wondered “Why don’t black people tip?”

As someone who waited tables for a couple of years, I asked the same question. They were always, without fail, the most demanding pains in the ass, and usually left 5%-10% when they left anything at all. There was not one waiter I worked with (including black waiters) who ever wanted to have them at their tables.

“Working as a bartender, he wondered “Why don’t black people tip?””

In this guy’s defense, I’ve read several accounts over the years wherein black waiters and waitresses ask exactly the same question.

Thank God we have Trump, because they hated Bush just as much but he didn’t do anything for us. Bush was “bipartisan” so the Democrats had the best of both worlds, someone to hate and someone that would do whatever they wanted.

“Fetterman is actually turning out to be ok.”

Fetterman is optimizing his positions.

Be very wary of really smart people who seek power.

The sheep costume comes off when real power is at hand.

“November is going to be a freaking nightmare election. America is going to be faced with decades of chaos and radicalism as the democrats go on a revenge hell ride.”

About $600 per motorist is in the process of being sent out by the Treasury - to importers.

Congress can still lay a tariff refund windfall profits tax and send out about $400 in Gas Help to each insured vehicle owner.

Help yourself and Republicans hold Congress, call and ask your federal elected officials to redirect the tariff refund money.

If they think they have a shot at defeating Collins and grabbing a Senate seat they’d back the Devil himself. They have no standards.

No mention of his Nazi SS tattoo representing camp guards who slaughtered millions of innocent Jews and others. 20 years he wore that proudly showing it off to anyone who would look and once he decided to run for office and others told him it was not good, he finally covered it up. What he has not covered up are his Pol Pot-Red Guard ideas that would represent Maine in DC.

Platner is not a communist. He’s a national socialist, or a social nationalist, however you want to say it.

Huey Long with a bit of FDR is his ancestor, not the Austrian painter.

Maybe he is sincere, or maybe that’s just what you say when you have political aspirations. Whichever it is, why would an intelligent man like Bruni vote for Platner over Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), a moderate Republican who, after Trump’s second impeachment, voted to convict him?

The reason, Bruni writes, is that Platner is “a Democrat running against a Republican and I haven’t been kidding around when I’ve said that President Trump has no respect for democracy, no regard for the truth.” Trump, as Bruni sees it, is an “extreme danger” to the U.S.

To vote for Collins, Bruni believes, “would be irresponsible, nonsensical and perilous.”

As far as I know, Frank Bruni does not live in the State of Maine.
