NY Times Columnist Wants Iran Defeated, But Hates Trump Too Much to Want US to Win

Like the paper he works for, Thomas Friedman is a longstanding institution. People read the New York Times so they can repeat his slick glib nonsense at parties to people just as clueless, but slightly too busy to read his verbose ramblings in the paper for themselves.

But give Tom some credit, he was just a little too honest in this CNN interview.

Khruschev famously used the words “cult of personality” in criticizing Stalin and his supporters. I think it’s since been used to smear Trump and the “MAGA cult.” Clever.

However, in the real world, the cult of personality applied to someone that Democrats called Uncle Joe. In other words, it seems to be a leftist phenomenon.

Trump Derangement System is coming across of another version of the cult of personality. It doesn’t matter that Trump does something that is hugely right. Trump must be faulted.

I think we should tote up the cost of Iran’s missile, rocket, drones, and hardened shelters. I think they were all paid for by Obama and Biden. Obama released about $100B to Iran, Biden $16B.

I keep wondering what these so-called "journalists" and especially the communist dems will do after President Trump finishes his term. Will they transfer their hate to someone else?

Friedman likes to posture as a common sense "moderate", but this is just nuts.

Trump is going to be out of office in three years, and Netanyahu before then. Whatever popularity boost either of them gains from this ultimately does not matter.

On the other hand, the positive impact of Iran being defeated will last for decades - at least. Even if you hate Trump, the potential harm caused by him getting a boost in the polls is dwarfed by the positive impact of defeating Iran.

The only exception to that would be if you believe that Trump is going to try to stay in office after 2029. And if you believe that...you are indeed a nut.

They react like spoiled children, incapable of rational thought.

Where’s all the concern for women with the left. Iran is a nightmare to it’s own women. Or the beheading of Christians. Do they think Jews will escape this regime’s punishments if Iran get’s a stronghold on the U.S.? Or Israel?

Shows how the left only uses those things for leverage with their voters, not that they really care. They are the biggest hypocrites walking the earth.

There are no anti-Trumpers who actually know why they don’t like Trump. Politically or personally.

Unless they’re traitors or other criminals hoping to escape justice.

But “muh principles”!

Yeah, it’s real easy to be pure, and always stick to your principles when you aren’t “in the arena.” You never have to compromise, or deal with political realities, which means making coalitions with people who don’t get along with each other. It’s just so easy when you don’t have to mess with all that.

This is how all commies feel, they ONLY root for America when their side controls everything. If it had been a President Harris(God forbid, she would have just cackled at Iran which may have been enough to shut them up LOL) and had done the same exact war, they would have called her actions heroic, and true leadership

Friedman exemplifies Tesla's observation: One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane.

Friedman is nuts.

Yep. Freidman represents how really twisted the left is. What is it about Trump and Bibi that drives them so mad? It’s because they show the left just how wrong they are about everything.
