June Lake is part of Mono County, which has the highest average gas price in the United States.

“My husband and I were watching the news this morning, and it came on about $4 gas and I said, ‘Well, where are you? Ours is $7.50!’” she said, citing the price at the only gas station in her town.

Given the location of June Lake it is understandable.

Yep, it’s part of CA which continually raises the tax on gas. Also, at one time (I don’t know if it’s still true), each county could dictate the gasoline “blend” for the county, totaling destroying any economies of scale that might be had on the production of distillate fuels. You’re getting what you voted for.

one of the big problems with gas prices in california is that california issues licenses for gasoline distribution monopolies where a sole distributor has total control over wholesale pricing in its exclusive distribution areas, which hits the rural counties in california particularly hard ... it’s been that way for many decades ...

Agreed. The world is a better place because of Trump and IMHO if the only side-effect is a temporary rise in gas prices, I can live with it. Even if I had to spend more on gas (though like you, I don’t with most of our driving in our EV and most of our power for our home with decentralized solar).

June Lakes Loop Road is one of the prettiest drives in the Sierra Nevada. But it’s no place to get gasoline unless you are low on fuel.

Gee, what a srprise that this is in Ca. I mean they have been tryin to run gas out of the state, and they are basically driving prople out of the state, except illegals who get their gas paid for by the citizens ,since U.S. Senator Chris Murphy stated they are the Democrats favotorite undocumented Aemerican consistuents.

While diesel used to be cheaper than gasoline, environmennal regulations have reversed that, and now diesel is always sugnificantly higher than gasoline. that in turn raises the prices of all goods that reach the martketplace by diesek powered Tractor Trailer trucks..

Republicans pay 4 a gallon and Democrats pay 8 a gallon. Problem solved.
