The Senate approved by unanimous consent Thursday a proposal to end the special treatment members of Congress get at airports that allows them to speed through or skip the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) screening checkpoints.

The House would need to pass the bill and President Trump would have to sign it for it to become law.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Trump can simply issue an order to close the bypass lane.

I doubt this bill will pass because the nobility love their privileges.

I think it will pass because of optics.

I think it will get ignored. Rules for me, rules for thee.

“Trump can simply issue an order to close the bypass lane.”

Trump should fight to end the nationalization of airports.

This isn’t the USSR. Airports do not need to be nationalized in the United States.

Good start. These shutdowns are all too often and too long now. Cut the pay for Congress and their staffing during any shutdown. Make that the law of the land !

Most airports are run by cities or states. Not the Feds.

Good. The Squad can get the same treatment we all undergo.

Fair enough.

That’s of course a problem of its own; the TSA is what is nationalized which I had mixed up.

Still not the USSR here.

So what?

The real purpose behind the bill is to make congress "feel the pain" that others are due to long TSA lines from lack of DHS funding.

Presuming the House won't pass it, Trump can apply the same leverage through Exec order. Alternatively, the DHS secretary can issue their own order, etc..

How about we just pass a bill getting rid of TSA all together. Metal detectors and sniffer dogs would work just as well.

TSA is not to keep you safe its to keep you submissive.

San Francisco International Airport does not have TSA screeners for passengers or baggage. They are independently operated though under the guidelines of TSA. There is no reason that Airport screeners need to be government employees if we can’t end the screening altogether, I say privatize all airport screening and baggage operations

I want them to have to go through a mandatory body cavity search every time they fly. They deserve nothing less.

Wait for the next unanimous consent bill which renames a post office and also reinstates the Congressional fast lane. I give this a month at most.
