During the 2022 U.S. midterm elections, I orchestrated and organized my team to win the election for city council,” Sun wrote. The unnamed elected official — whom Sun called a “new political star” — is merely referred to as “Individual 1” in court documents and was used to distribute PRC propaganda through an online publication targeting the local Chinese American community.

While the individual was not named in court papers, Sun was listed as a campaign treasurer for Arcadia City Council candidate Eileen Wang on a 2022 campaign statement filing.

Wang earlier this month was sworn in as mayor of Arcadia, a city of nearly 60,000 people northeast of Los Angeles that has a sizable Asian population.

Even non-Communist Chinese Americans are very loyal to the idea of of an international Greater China, and will continue to support these types of CCP operatives without much critical inspection based on the vague feeling that by doing so they are “supporting their own people.”

From what I understand the only way students or migrants looking for employment won’t get out of China without swearing allegiance to the CCP.
