Six of the victims were discovered inside Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, with one victim who was rushed to the hospital dying en route. Two other victims were found dead at a residence near to the school. CBC further reported that 25 other persons were injured, and two more were airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
British Columbia Premier David Eby offered his condolences.
Our hearts are in Tumbler Ridge tonight with the families of those who have lost loved ones.

During a virtual news conference, the North District Chief Supt. Ken Floyd detailed that in the early afternoon hours, an active shooter alert was issued for Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, a high school with fewer than 200 students. In the alert, the alleged shooter was described as a woman in a dress with brown hair.

Chief Supt. Floyd assured that all the remaining students and staff were safely evacuated from the school and the situation was stable. B.C. Premier Eby has scheduled an address to the community at 9:00 p.m. MT.
The shooting at the small, rural high school today is the second deadliest school shooting in Canadian history, behind the massacre that left 14 dead at L'Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal on Dec. 6, 1989.
Five people were killed in a series of shootings in La Loche, Sask., on Jan. 22, 2016, including two at a community school.
The Tumbler Ridge School District will close both its elementary and secondary schools for the rest of the week.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney posted the following statement to X:

I am devastated by today’s horrific shootings in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. My prayers and deepest condolences are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones to these horrific acts of violence.
I join Canadians in grieving with those whose lives have been changed irreversibly today, and in gratitude for the courage and selflessness of the first responders who risked their lives to protect their fellow citizens.
Our ability to come together in crisis is the best of our country — our empathy, our unity, and our compassion for each other.
I have connected with Premier Eby to express my condolences, and with the Minister of Public Safety, Gary Anandasangaree, who is coordinating the federal response.
Our officials are in close contact with their counterparts to ensure the community is fully supported as best we can. The Government of Canada stands with all British Columbians as they confront this horrible tragedy.
This is a developing story. RedState will update details as they become available.

Nonpossible.
Canaduh is gun-safe.
Obviously more gun laws needed.
It’s a long ways from anywhere on the east side of the mountains. No telling what triggered the mass shooting, but time will tell. I have suspicions, but no real information.
Lots ò f sympathy and empathy from government in a system that offers assisted suicide as an option to a bad cold diagnosis.
If you live in a northern community and you don’t have a gun... That would be odd. You need one just to take a walk... Otherwise, the bears will eat you and if they don’t... Then the wolves will.
My guess... A female transgender wannabe... She likely got sick of getting laughed at by the other kids. In a community of 2000 it’s kind of hard to keep a secret.
Pulling out for note.....Perp was reported to be a man dressed as a woman.......

Shooter ID’d as “trans”
Give it a day or two for this to be verified, or hidden by the usual suspects.
Queer shooting clubs have opened up all over North America. Sole purpose: shoot those who represent a threat to LGBT.
I didn’t think you were even allowed to own a gun in Canada.
Of course, the gun trans can't get a gun from the USA..
Yup! A lot of us understand about going in the woods unarmed. Not a good idea. Of course being a tranny(if that’s the case here) isn’t A good idea.
