Funny how judges can have an attorney handcuffed, but rarely are judges arrested and handcuffed like they should be.

According to the publicly reported details, the attorney refused to stop speaking after Judge Rosie Speedlin‑Gonzalez instructed her to stop interrupting and to wait her turn to address the court. Prosecutors say the judge viewed this as noncompliance with her directive to cease arguing over courtroom procedure.
What the reports describe
During a December 2024 probation‑revocation hearing, defense attorney Elizabeth Russell challenged how the judge was handling the proceeding.
Judge Speedlin‑Gonzalez told Russell to stop interrupting and to follow the court’s procedural instructions.
Investigators say Russell refused to comply with those instructions, continuing to argue the point.
At that point, the judge ordered deputies to handcuff Russell and place her in the jury box, which prosecutors now argue exceeded the judge’s lawful authority.
Well, at least you sort of warned us.
