Trump says agreed ‘framework’ for US deal over Greenland

US President Donald Trump says he has reached a framework for a deal over Greenland following a meeting with NATO chief Mark Rutte, and that he will therefore waive tariffs scheduled to hit European allies.

“We have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region,” Trump says in a post on Truth Social.

The US president does not provide any details on the framework, but adds that his threatened tariffs against European countries who are resisting his quest to acquire Greenland are now off the table.

“Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the Tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st,” Trump writes.

Trump’s quest to take the strategic Arctic island of Greenland from NATO ally Denmark has deeply shaken the global order and markets.

I wrote yesterday that he already had a plan outlined...and ready to go. lol....

I also wrote that he would never attack Greenland. Anyone who thought he might is really, really stupid.

Not getting Greenland meant NATO was finished. That was the bargaining chip, I think. No European nation, except one or two maybe, were in position to do their own defense.

“… has deeply shaken the global order and markets.”

Which explains why market trends are unchanged./S

To be clear, Mark Rutte isn’t in position to create or agree to a deal.

So, while I’ll take the rise of the stock market, and the dropping of the tariff threat, I don’t expect the EU weenies to give up quickly or fully.

We shall see...

This does NOT mean Trump gets to annex Greenland. It sounds like Rutte promised more NATO Arctic exercises, maybe garrison NATO troops at US base(s) on Greenland, maybe contribute funding for reactivating our old bases there or building new ones, stuff like that.

THE US MARKETS AREN’T EVEN OPEN genius and the details aren’t even known yet, yet you’re posting like the coward of the county.

Thankfully, we have a strong leader and not a spineless surrendering wimp like your’re posturing yourself to be.

Your beta boyfriend should spank you into further shame.

I wonder how many insiders in the know have made buckets of money in stock market options and trades on the basis of Trump’s market shaking moves?

Nah, they wouldn’t do that would they?

This is both amazing and historic. This level of amazing and historical “winning” that President Trump has accomplished in the last 12 months can only have one source.

Almighty God has His Hand on President Trump. He is guiding and directing and blessing and protecting our President in all that he does.

May God continue to bless and protect President Trump and his loyal allies.

The envy, anger, sheer madness, and total TDS will only gets worse. For the rest of We The People,,,,,popcorn and Winnamins.

The chip is that all those countries together cannot defeat Russia or China or any other attacker. We proved that in WWII.

My guess? Poland and Finland.

More importantly, Trump may have threatened to stop sending arms to Ukraine.

Without American arms, it'll take the Russians around six months to make a breakthrough at the front.

Now Trump needs to get active control of some of the Canadian arctic lands for a similar purpose.

We used to run the DEW Line with Canada.

Same here! I said for weeks here on FR that taking Greenland by force was simply “noise”, or diversion at best. But the 9 or so pro-Russian warmongers on FR were egging on like crazy, they were ecstatic (!): “Go Trump! Take Greenland! Take Greenland!” they said... hoping that it would destroy NATO of course.

Well, those pro-Russians seem very, very discreet at the moment...! They don’t look so smart - as it stands right now at least.

For what it’s worth:

the NYT reports that the announcement followed a NATO meeting on Wednesday "where top military officers from the alliance’s member states discussed a compromise in which Denmark would give the United States sovereignty over small pockets of Greenlandic land where the United States could build military bases." The NYT goes on to note that according to two of the officials, who attended the meeting, the deal compares "to the United Kingdom’s bases in Cyprus, which are regarded as British territory."

Exactly.
The main thing that happened out of all this is that NATO got a MASSIVE boost of it.
This whole noise about Greenland ended up being a doubling down on NATO expansion!

I always said here on FR that Trump was the most pro-NATO U.S. President since the end of WWII ! It is confirmed tonight!
