President Trump: Don’t Derail Winning Streak by Invading Greenland
American Thinker ^ | 01/19/26 | Civis Americanus

President Trump is hitting home runs. If voters pay attention, this should result in Republican victories in the midterm elections. This is especially important because the party that holds the presidency usually loses House and Senate seats.

It is therefore vital that Trump not break his winning streak with unnecessary and unjustifiable military action against Greenland. If Greenland’s 50,000 or so inhabitants believe that Denmark is not doing a good job for them, they are always free to vote to become a U.S. territory, as many other regions have done throughout our history.

[SNIP]

Acquire Greenland Peacefully or Not at All

New York City’s new mayor, former Students for Justice in Palestine leader Zohran Mamdani, will be the poster child for why you should “use your HEAD and vote RED” in November 2026. The Republican Elephant therefore holds at least three if not four aces for 2026, so it is vital that President Trump not hand the Democrat Donkey an easy victory.

Greenland is still part of the Kingdom of Denmark and has representation in Denmark’s Parliament. The United States therefore has no right to annex it unless its people decide for some reason that they would prefer to be a U.S. territory. Denmark has said openly that its troops will fire on ours if we invade, which, under international law, they would have every right to do.

Denmark could even invoke the NATO Alliance against the United States, a prospect that would give Chairman Xi and Vladimir Putin bigger highs than would come from even the most potent illicit drugs. Although I have zero use for Britain’s Keir Starmer and his support for a “Palestinian” (terrorist) state, he was right when he said Greenland’s future is up to Greenland and Denmark, and nobody else.

I don’t think that’s really going to happen, just as he’s not going to invade Canada.

He’s not going to invade Greenland; that isn’t Trump’s style. He makes deals, and only attacks when the opponent places our country at risk. Greeenland couldn’t place our country at risk if it tried—Russia or China could, if they were to invade Greenland.

As Curley would say when discussing the island’s capital, Nuuk Nuuk Nuuk.

Trump Already Has 3 Home Runs Going to Midterms, Don’t spoil it with another foreign adventurism.

Here they are:

1. The U.S. Now Has a Budget Surplus.

Because of President Donald Trump’s efforts to gain tariff-fueled revenues and reduce the scope and pace of public-sector spending, the nation has just reached an operating point where we are spending less than we take in.

2. Chinese and Russian Weapons Come Up Short in Venezuela

The Chinese communists and the Russian Federation claim to have military technology with which to defeat the United States, but the results in Venezuela speak for themselves.

3. The Ayatollahs Circle the Drain

The opportunity for the Persian people to take their country back was created largely by U.S. and Israeli military action against Iran last year. Now President Trump has threatened the regime with military force should it use violence against peaceful protesters, which takes away the regime’s only means of saving itself from being overthrown. Intelligent IRGC members and police officers with even a rudimentary sense of decency or self-preservation are deserting, throwing away their weapons, and even changing sides.

I don’t know. If the 57,000 Greenlanders wouldn’t mind if we ran the railroad and their futures became more prosperous....then why not? How big an army does Greenland have? The global game is being played out. Winners aren’t losers. Remember that?

In an odd way, the rest of NATO owes us.

Define “ invasion”

If Greenlanders wake up in 5 years to find their mines ports communication sites and airfields built and controlled by Chinese CCP/military ….will they feel “ invaded”?

Because that is what Trump and Rubio are trying to prevent

I don’t understand why otherwise intelligent people believe that Trump is going to ‘invade’ Greenland.

They must just want something to write about and publish.

Has no one learned anything about how Trump works by now?

Agreed. But it’s worth noting that Trump’s offhand comments about invading Canada were a factor in the odious Liberals’ election win there.

So you’ve always got to consider that pesky Law of Unintended Consequences.

Those headlines get clicks.

If it is so obvious that we actually are not going to invade Greenland - and I agree that it is regardless of what the President says - then why say it in the first place?

It doesn't make any sense to be part of a negotiation strategy because a threat that nobody believes is worthless as a negotiation tactic. It's just saying somethong needlessly offensive.

“If the 57,000 Greenlanders wouldn’t mind...”

We won’t know for sure if they’d mind until it’s put to a vote, but every survey I’ve seen says a significant majority of them do mind.
