The recent terror attack at Bondi Beach, near Sydney, Australia, started about 6:45 p.m. on December 14, Australian time. Two terrorists opened fire with long guns on a Jewish celebration of the first day of Hanukkah. Sixteen people are reported dead, including one of the two attackers. Two police officers are among the 38 people killed or wounded, according to Wikipedia.
The other terrorist, armed with a bolt-action rifle with a telescopic sight, waves for his confederate to join him on a footbridge. About 1:20 in the video, the terrorist, who was disarmed, has rearmed with another long gun and started shooting again. The man who threw the bottle has taken the shotgun and attempts to use it, but he does not appear to be successful. The man who threw the bottle is wounded, retreats, and falls down or is shot down.
At about 1:46, a police officer approaches behind the terrorist, who is armed with a scoped rifle. The officer has a handgun out and aimed at the terrorist, but does not appear to shoot.

There are people who think the cops spent the attack hiding, perhaps their strategy was to let the gunmen exhaust themselves and they would catch them when they took a nap.
The attack lasted 5 minutes and 52 seconds. Some police officers did not respond well, but the terrorists were getting rounds incoming at 3 and a half minutes.
A Police officer is believed to have taken out both terrorists with pistol fire from 43 yards.
Why, after 10/7, was the event so poorly secured?
The Australian government should fall over this.

When in a life and death situation, the mind goes into super-speed. Time seems to slow down. What is actually seconds seems like minutes.

I am not certain the event was “poorly secured”. A six minute response time is faster than for some of our response to mass murder.
The way to get faster response is to have the potential victims armed, such as in the Greenwood Mall incident in Indiana. Eli Dickens fired 10 shots from 40 yards in 10 seconds and made 8 hits.
If it were me I would have shot the terrorist I took the rifle from and then went after the others.
There were only two officers on duty for the event.

Previously I saw that, unblurred, but I can’t find it now.
It might have also been in the mind of the hero who disarmed the jihadi that he did not want to be confused for a perp by a cop or other bystander.
The feelings of the people that were there were reflected not in their hiding until the cops intervened, the way they saw the situation, they had to step in because they couldn’t count on other help.
And you could have ten witnesses and each would give a different account of what they believe they saw.
If the bad guy is down, beat him to death.
If you don’t know how, learn. It’s easy.

Probably not. I’ve read the dude who grabbed the terrorist took three rounds!
Most of the people there would not have known how to release the safeties on the guns when they took them
