On Oct. 18, Caceres had been headed to Texas to photograph a wedding when he was detained while going through security at John Wayne Airport.
Caceres and his wife of a year and a half, who is a U.S. citizen, had been wary of travel as mass deportations increased nationwide under the Trump administration. Still, he had clients counting on him. And he believed he would be safe: Caceres said he had fled to the United States as a teenager seeking asylum and had continued following immigration requirements over the years, including completing biometrics and updating his address the previous year.
But his immigration case had grown complicated years earlier. In 2018, Caceres was issued a deportation order — something both he and the Department of Homeland Security confirmed.

More ICE please!
Took awhile for the FA to turn into FO.
I’m so glad he was able to return to his loved ones.
Shoot or shoot up?
Only the truly stupid wouldn't blame democrats for creating a situation where people come here believing that breaking the law earns citizenship under 'immigration requirements'.
This article targets the truly stupid.
Well, surprise: after you read halfway through the article, you discover that Mr. Caceres had a deportation order issued in 2018 and claims because it was sent to the incorrect address, he didn’t know about it. Another clean deportation win from CBP/ICE!
Caceres and his wife of a year and a half, who is a U.S. citizen
Sorry the sympathy light has been extinguished.
This guy should have left the US long before he got married.
Did he tell his wife that he had a deportation order against him before they got married?
If he did she has no reason to be surprised that he got nabbed at the airport.
He’ll be home for Christmas!
Makes you wonder about his wife, doesn’t it.
Yay!
I voted for this!
I DON’T CARE!! HOWS THAT, MEDIA!!
I’M TIRED OF WORKING MY WHOLE LIFE AND WATCHING CRIMINALS GET AWAY WITH EVERYTHING.
AND ILLEGAL ALIENS ARE CRIMINALS.
“Shoot” a wedding?! Sounds about right
Predictable how the LameStreamMedia glosses over the details. "Complicated" to them translates to "he's not such a poster child of persecuted refugee after all."

This article is riddled with clues as to him knowing he had an order against him. The fact he was worried, and his case was complicated proves he knew. Another propaganda article against the enforcement of our laws.
What about the bride? Why is she hiring this guy?
And they steal our social security benefits, our public services paid with our taxes and vote for racists.
I hope someone snapped a photo of his face when ICE showed up.
Were they criminals? If so, they have only themselves to blame. Whoever wrote this for the Orange County Register doesn't seem to understand.
"In 2018, Caceres was issued a deportation order"
So why was he still in the USA? And why was he surprised when he was deported seven years later? And why is the Orange County Register confused about this?
This sounds kind of like the false CBP horsemen whipping illegals with reins hoax.

Exactly.
“Utah man, Jair Celis, was arrested by ICE agents at his final green card interview in Salt Lake City on December 2, 2025, despite having a clean record and being married to a U.S. citizen, stunning his family and attorneys who expected approval for his residency. He was detained for overstaying a visa, a common reason for such arrests, and now faces removal proceedings while his family advocates for his release, highlighting increased enforcement at USCIS offices”
Just saw on the TV “news” this morning that the saintly soccer coach nabbed at his green card hearing in Salt Lake City had an arrest in 2014:
“Celis was accused in 3rd District Juvenile Court of a second-degree felony allegation of sexual abuse of a child, according to a court filing obtained by The Tribune on Tuesday. Another allegation is redacted in the filing.
The document alleges that between March 1, 2014, and April 30, 2014, when he was 17 years old, Celis abused a girl who attended his ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake County.”
