The founder of a Swiss assisted suicide clinic has ended his own life just days before his 93rd birthday.
Ludwig Minelli, who was at the helm of the Dignitas right-to-die organization for nearly two decades, died on Saturday from “voluntary assisted dying,” the group said.
Minelli — described by the non-profit as a “pioneer and warrior” — would have celebrated his birthday this Friday.
No other details about Minelli’s death were immediately available, including where he died.
The journalist-turned-human rights lawyer had founded Dignitas back in 1998 to help people end their lives on their own terms.
In a tribute, the group said Minelli had “stood unwaveringly for his convictions when it came to the protection of fundamental rights and the freedom of citizens.”
“Right up to the end of his life, he continued to search for further ways to help people to exercise their right to freedom of choice and self-determination in their ‘final matters’ – and he often found them,” the group said.
Dignitas, which says it has strict guidelines for accepting candidates, has helped roughly 4,000 people in Switzerland and across the world end their lives, according to the group.
Dignitas vowed to continue Minelli’s work.
“The Dignitas team will continue to manage and develop the association in the spirit of its founder as a professional and combative international organization for self-determination and freedom of choice in life and at the end of life,” the group said.

Did he get a discount?
Ha ha.
Suicide is a sin but when you’re apparently an atheist…
So, The founder of a Swiss assisted “suicide” clinic didn’t commit suicide himself.....he “ended his own life”
And “died on Saturday from “voluntary assisted dying,”
Think about how that’s being reported for a sec.....
Good on him, for practicing what he preached.
All the same, my response to assisted suicide advocates remains, “You go first.”
His last words:
“The password for the company email is...”
Now he’s at the pearly gates trying to Splain it to Jesus.
working your way out of a job.
When he stands before God Almighty, he can plead his case about removing God’s jurisdiction on human life. He will suffer the consequences of the one he doesn’t know. We were given our time on earth to make choices, good or bad, and will all suffer the consequences, either in this life or in the world to come.
A high turnover rate for that business.
“stood unwaveringly for his convictions when it came to the protection of fundamental rights and the freedom of citizens.”

If suicide is so great, teach it to younger and younger people. The sooner the better. So they don’t have to ponder and question their life unnecessarily.
In fact, this ‘logic’ progresses to the ultimate early death - abortion.
I aborted it so it would not have to agonize over committing suicide.
I just got a hint of this evil thinking when reading the quote and fleshed it out.
At least he walked the walk...
At least he walked the walk...
Unlike Kervorkian.
“The password for the company email is...”
Not "Clear my browser history!"?
Yes, 100% off. He just put it on his credit card ...
Ezekiel Emanuel has just seven years left before he has to go the same route.
“I’m not only the president, but I’m also a client”
Yes, by inference but never defined in the Bible as a sin like adultery, murder and others, but a forgiven sin if you are a believer and saved through accepting Christ.
