Why no hurricanes made landfall in the US in 2025
ABC News | Disney ^ | November 30, 2025 | ByDaniel Peck and Julia Jacobo

The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season proved to be consequential, even though no hurricanes made landfall in the U.S for the first time since 2015.

Prior to the start of the season, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicted above average activity in its initial Atlantic hurricane season outlook, with 13 to 19 named storms, six to 10 hurricanes, and three to five major hurricanes, Category 3 or stronger.

This season, the Atlantic basin produced 13 named storms, five of which became hurricanes. This included four major hurricanes with maximum sustained winds reaching 111 mph or greater.

Considering that a portion of this year’s hurricane season occurred during the longest federal government shutdown in history, experts say it is fortunate that none of the storms hit the U.S.

"The forecasters at the NHC kept working, but without pay," said Marc Alessi, climate attribution fellow at the Union of Concerned Scientists. "The U.S. got lucky that no hurricanes made landfall during the government shutdown. FEMA response would have been limited."

This season offers a glimpse into how human-amplified climate change could influence tropical activity in the coming decades. While the total number of tropical cyclones is expected to remain steady or even decrease slightly, the storms that do form are likely to be more intense, according to climate scientists.

Human-caused climate change has led to substantial ocean warming, which fuels hurricane intensification.

The changing climate is also amplifying the indirect effects of tropical systems that remain well offshore, making coastal areas more vulnerable.

Maybe they didn’t want to be arrested by ICE

We are all Bill Belichick when it comes to weather now:

“When you play in New England, you have to be ready for everything. I’d say based on the forecasts we’ve gotten so far this year, none of them have been even very close to what game conditions were.

There was 100 percent chance of rain last week and the only water I saw was on the Gatorade table.

You know, it is what it is.

You know as well as I do, it could start one way and change during the game. we have to be ready for whatever it is, but my experience of going with the forecast in this area two days before the game, I mean I’d bet a lot that they’re wrong, just based on history because they’re almost always wrong. An hour before the game, maybe. You might have something to work with there.

I think if you start game planning for what the weather is going to be and you game plan wrong, you’ve wasted a lot of time. The forecasts are a bunch of hot air. Look, I’m not saying I could do it better than them, I’m just saying they’re wrong a lot.

That’s a fact. They’re wrong a lot.

We all make mistakes. I’m not being critical of them, I’m just saying I don’t think you can go based on that.”

Their predictions were ALL WRONG!

ZERO hurricanes hit the mainland

Less named storms, fewer became hurricanes.

“human-amplified climate change “ SAY WHAT?

A new term? Are they finally admitting that “man” isn’t causing climate change? Man is just “amplifying” it?

What a CROCK! There is no “climate change” other than the natural order of things. God is in control.

“man” as in “hu-man” can not cause or exacerbate climate change.

Even IF (a VERY BIG “if”) man had an effect on climate, there is NOTHING man can/could do about it.

The Erf is YUGE! Puny hu-mans only occupy a tiny fraction of this planet. They can not cause or affect global climate.

Puny hu-mans are impotent in being able to control global climate. Why pretend this is even possible.. oh wait... Grants!

This all goes back to the Greenland ice cores. They PROVED that “man” did not cause global warming or cooling for that matter.

Man’s affect on this planet is insignificant.

It’s the chemtrails and HAARP that are controlling the hurricanes!

Or lack thereof.

They’ll be back during next year’s elections, and in ‘28.

I read this nearly every day over on truth social.

Gives me a new hobby.

Blocking the yahoos who believe in that stuff.

"How did the U.S. avoid a landfalling hurricane? It was largely due to a combination of favorable conditions and a bit of luck."

When there are no landfall hurricanes it's luck. When they do hit land, it's man made global warming.

One would think the melting Glaciers (caused by climate change), would cool the hot Oceans (caused by climate change).

See how silly these people sound?

Hurricanes need to be declared an endangered phenomenon and afforded the necessary protection, and of course raise taxes to pay for it.

They studiously (pun intended) ignored the injection of over 150 million TONS of seawater into the stratosphere by a monster underwater volcano- Hunga-Tonga Volcano in the S. Pacific. the trailing clouds of steam and water vapor went around the world, and instead of causing warming of the oceans it actually (in combination with the vast dust and water vapor) cooled areas the last 3 years especially in the belt which generates typhoons and Atlantic Hurricanes! And quelle horreur it may have damaged the ozone layer— many times more than humans ever could.

NOT human caused, and neither is the Solar Cycle. These people are seeking grant money to study the obvious... and to eat.

Because it's now the Gulf of America seen over by President Donald J. Trump

So the hurricanes got the message...FAFO.

"The forecasters at the NHC kept working, but without pay,"

That is a misnomer. They worked without paychecks, but by law were entitled to back pay. They were fully compensated, albeit not in a timely manner. If they have an issue with that, they can talk to Chuckie.

They continue to sell the “more intense” mythology. Everything, including hurricane intensity, goes in long cycles short term human memory cannot fathom.

The NHC forecast was pure garbage, and they got bent over during Trump's 100 Days of Firings; but the truth is, it was one hell of an outlier year where every time any major even got within the Bahamas, it got swatted away by a progressive CONUS front.

Normally a Bermuda high ushers two or three of these through the Caribbean or Key West corridor and sneaks into the Gulf of America. But every time it counted, that high retreated just to the east and yielded to the front. *swat*

Then the late-season Yucatan gyre failed to produce, despite numerous GFS plots showering the Gulf Coast with nightmare scenarios all fall.

Not sanguine about it, especially if we drive straight through La Nina > ENSO Neutral > and come out with a hot El Nino sometime by June-July 2026. Southern Florida for sure.
