On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher stated that the federal Department of Education has done a terrible job and Democrats “have to own this issue a little. Because a lot of the states that are doing better now are like the southern states.”
Maher said, “Linda McMahon is the Department of Education Secretary. She was talking this week about — now we know the Republicans have wanted to shut it down since 1979, when it was founded. So, it’s not been there forever, okay. She said, it’s mostly a pass-through for funds that are best managed by the states. This stuff does not sound too unreasonable to me. She says it would not mean ending federal support for education, funding for low-income students, students with disabilities, that pre-dates the Education Department, and that would continue, as would protecting students’ civil rights.”
Maher further said, “Why do we need the Department of Education, if it has done such a shitty job? Kids don’t come out of school — first of all, they can’t read or do math anymore, and they don’t know anything.”

Either that or he’s trying hard not to look as dumb as the rest.
I keep thinking Maher’s recent conversion to rationality is simply a response to the writing on the wall and a ploy to keep his career on track. MSNobodywatchingBC is a cautionary tale. But maybe he’s genuinely trying to wave his party away from the cliff edge.
Saw the govnah of Mississippi on CSpan last night, I want him in the White House in ‘32.
His approach to education is the one thing my lost-to-leftism daughter and I agree on, which gives me hope that 30yo daughter (happily married, wants kids) will eventually emigrate from the dark side.
It seems to me that maybe 15% of the population, mostly single white women, have jumped off the cliff into radical satanic leftism. That leaves maybe 20-25% of the population that is not-as-leftist Democrat, but who don't have a voice in the media, except for Maher. It's possible that CBSNews and maybe even CNN will inch back from the cliff's edge, for market share if nothing else, and then the national debate will become somewhat more rational in the coming elections (28, 30, 32).
It’s because he is a comedian who actualygoes out to, and has friends in Red and Purple States. He is not in a blue bubble.

Interesting news that some 30,000 students had missed school in Charlotte, NC for fear of ICE. At 30 kids per class, that’s a thousand classes and a thousand teachers. Tax paying parents in Charlotte might wonder how much better their own children’s education might be if that money was not being spent on illegals.

Is Donna Brazile going for social re-education programs for the populace that is lagging behind? Is she encouraging camps for single moms to educate them on how to get their kids to study, or maybe putting those kids into camps away from the moms?
I’m interested in her suggestions.
