Seems like a shell game? Money shifts from one pocket to another, people get a different boss, but the game is the same?

Offices and personnel should not be transferred to other agencies. Offices should be closed and the leeches previously employed there should be fired.

It’s the optics. Once it’s gone there will not be a new one-good enough for me. Next start thinning out the other departments.

YEP! Perhaps some downsizing in the process, it's a start. If you back pushing two centuries you will find that some state had their own board, many do today. Time to put those scraps back to the states.

DOE needs to be expunged without leaking any of its programs or people to other agencies. Actually, all the agencies need to be deleted in toto. We might even then begin to seriously pay begin to pay down the Debt.

I think it is a pretty good move. When you decentralize a large department, you take away the centralized power and put them under scrutiny of someone else who askes a lot of questions.
