Reality Caught Up to ‘Climate Change’
American Greatness ^ | 17 Nov, 2025 | Victor Davis Hanson

Posted on 11/17/2025 5:18:12 AM PST by MtnClimber

The climate creed that once ruled unquestioned is cracking as energy needs, geopolitical reality, and basic science force the West to admit carbon isn’t dying anytime soon.

For decades, the monolithic and sacrosanct international climate change hierarchy went unquestioned.

Western nations in particular spent trillions of dollars over the past half-century to subsidize expensive but erratic wind and solar energy while demonizing carbon fuels as toxic threats to the planet.

Like Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion dogma, climate change orthodoxy was embedded into every aspect of Western culture, from the corporate boardroom to the university campus.

Question whether man-made global warming was truly responsible for increased temperatures rather than natural, often centuries-long cycles of heating and cooling of the planet, and one was labeled a climate crank.

Everything from declining fertility to forest fires was ridiculously attributed to climate change.

But the causes of both demographic crises and charred landscapes were more likely the result of new affluent lifestyles that saw child-rearing as too expensive and time-consuming, and misguided forest policies or underfunded firefighting.

Yet reality has caught up with the near-religious climate change cult.

One, the left-wing tech billionaires—exemplified by former climate change zealot Bill Gates—have become apostates of the green movement. Now they do not warn of a planet threatened by too much man-made heat but rather by too little man-made kilowattage.

They believe artificial intelligence will prove as transformative as the Industrial Revolution. But to win the AI revolution will require vast increases in electricity production, of up to a staggering 100 gigawatts a year of additional capacity.

Such enormous demand—to build the equivalent of a hundred huge power plants per year—is far beyond the ability of “renewables” alone.

Instead, the only solution is an “all of the above” strategy of building more nuclear, natural gas, clean-coal, wind,

We need to limit the people’s access to energy to control them but we also need huge amounts of energy to track them by AI and control them!

I knew from the start the data they were using was manufactured. The data points they were using was corrupt. The collection points were at spots such as a few feet behind an air conditioning unit that was blowing hot air, on rooftops, and to the north and south of the Andes, extrapolating the average temperature for the whole of the Andes.

As I’ve been saying for more than a decade, maybe two, you can’t power modern civilization on wind, solar, and unicorn flatulence.

And CO2 is a plant growth stimulant! If you don’t believe me, look into commercial greenhouse CO2 systems. They would not exist if it did not work. So why do our so-called green friend hate more green? Why do they hate cheaper food? Do they hate the poor? Ask the next brainwashed CO2 climate change true believer you run across. And true believer is the correct term, it is a quasi-religious belief, you will quickly find this out.

There are 8 billion people on this earth... We need electricity... Wind farms and solar panels aren’t going to do it, no matter how many of them you make. We need nuclear, coal and oil generated electricity and we have vast reserves for these resources.

I would not go as far as Hanson. There still is a Climate Change industry that is vested in getting as much money as possible to keep the grift going. So while one or two billionaires may have woken up to being scammed for Climate Change, there will be others. The grifters are trying to impose an international tax administered by the UN. And when the Dems are back in charge, they will start up the Climate Change crony capitalist grift for their friends and donors again.

Great article! Recall CO2 was deemed a pollutant by judges.

I vehemently disagree with VDH’s title.

It suggests that ‘reality’ is equivalent to ‘truth’ when, in fact, it was the ‘false reality’ (i.e., LIE) projected to the mentally deficient to support what is arguably more analogous to a religious movement than a scientific precept.

No, the headline should read,

“TRUTH Caught Up To ‘Climate Change’”

The only way to show that global temperatures are rising is by readjusting historical temperatures downwards.

The reality is that the alternative sources cannot even produce the electric power to make the trains run

But denialism purports that your statement results from an inadequate supply of alternative sources.

i.e., their - ironically - ‘alternate reality’ which feeds the lie.

Nope: The TRUTH won out (well, winning this year anyway).

True. Charlatans, especially Albert Gore, are pissed.

Gore used his position as VP to go around to colleges and universities telling researchers if they liked their government funding then they had to preach his sermon just like a Mafia Don or the money would cease to flow. He needs to spend the rest of his miserable life in the SuperMax or Gitmo.

Hanson is little bit ahead of the curve.
Global warming is still considered biggest threat to humanity by many.
But yes, the pendulum is finally turning around.
As the costs of energy are skyrocketing, here is a huge “anti-green” movement getting organized!
In last Czech election, the greens got eviscerated, but there is a new party called “Motorists for themselves”. They are dedicated for promotion of roads, cars, oil, gas and coal, their program is total opposite to “Green” policies.
And they got significant number of votes, so many, that they are now part of the three party ruling coalition!
They get the post of environmental minister!

Rush touted the book Trashing The Planet by Dixie Lee Ray back in 1990 wherein she debunked the theories of the AlGores of the world (prolly then that Rush coined the term "Envirowackos").

This has all been such B.S. and it's been so disheartening to see how many (otherwise intelligent?) Americans have embraced it - and spread it via young skulls full of mush.

The only way to show that global temperatures are rising is by readjusting historical temperatures downwards.

That was the goal for making the "hockey stick" graph. In emails among the "climatologists" they told each other "We have to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period".
