A so-called 'male Karen' who went on a rampage in a California hair salon - hurling shampoo bottles and screaming profanities - has pleaded guilty to assault and could spend the next six years behind bars.
August Marriott, 28, was captured on cell phone footage raging inside of Great Clips salon in Santee earlier this year before he was arrested for numerous charges, including assault.
Marriott will be sentenced on November 18 after he pleaded guilty to assault and admitted to a prior strike conviction as part of his plea, according to the San Diego district attorney's office.
Marriott had become irate after a staffer at the salon had pointed out he had shown up late for an appointment just before 7pm on January 29.
The video of his outburst was posted on social media and went viral, as he was seen overturning shelves of products in a rage.
He then threw shampoo bottles across the salon while yelling obscenities, the San Diego County Sheriff's Office said in a release.
The furious outburst resulted in one employee sustaining minor injuries, but Marriott fled before officers arrived on the scene.
Jessica Schirmer, a stylist at the salon, captured video footage of Marriott's tantrum and told NBC 7 that she 'just didn't know how he was going to act.'...
Schirmer said that Marriott had walked into the salon just before closing time, complaining he wasn't able to make an appointment online.
While she agreed to stay and cut his hair, what followed was him screaming obscenities before things escalated. Within seconds, he began to violently vandalize the store after he was asked to leave...
While his arrest came as a relief to the salon employees, his outburst left them in fear for future potential acts of violence.

Great Clips doesn’t even do appointments; that’s their thing. You can do early check-in when you’re on your way but it’s not an appointment. If you’re not there when your name rolls to the top of the list, you wait like everyone else.
I get excellent an excellent wash, cut, and blow dry for $17. Better than the cuts I’ve had for $50. I just cal ahead to make sure “April” is working that day.
IMHO we should stop the practice of calling people who do stupid and illegal things, “Karen”, it sounds funny but it often softens or makes light of the seriousness of some of their unlawful actions.
A male Karen is often called a Ken or a Kevin.
