Steve Hilton, Katie Porter lead latest poll in the California governor race
Orange County Register ^ | October 25, 2025 | Kaitlyn Schallhorn

New polling, conducted after videos of former Rep. Katie Porter‘s interactions with a journalist and a staffer went viral, shows the former congresswoman and Republican Steve Hilton at the front of the pack of contenders in the 2026 race for California governor.

But it also shows many likely voters are still undecided.

Hilton, a former Fox News host who got his start in politics in the United Kingdom, led the new Emerson College poll with 16%.

Porter, who served three terms in Congress representing an Orange County district before mounting an unsuccessful bid for U.S. Senate last year, was nearly tied at 15%.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco came in at No. 3 with 11%. And Democrats Xavier Becerra and Antonio Villaraigosa both clocked in at 5%.

All of the other candidates had less than 4%.

Notably, though, the poll found that a plurality of likely voters surveyed, 39%, said they were still undecided in the race. Speculation, in recent weeks, has mounted about a potential heavyweight contender jumping into the race for governor.

The poll also asked likely voters to weigh in on how favorable the top three candidates were, as well as U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla, a Democrat who is rumored to be considering a run for California governor, after all.

Padilla had the highest favorability ranking, 40%, while Bianco had the lowest at 19%. Meanwhile, 26% of respondents said they had a favorable view of Porter and 21% said that about Hilton.

I just can’t see that lunatic Katie Porter maintaining her composure during a debate.....I’d wager she finds some lame ass excuse not to.

Latino Democrats running last......snx.

Beccera was bleeding heart Biden’s undistinguished HHS Secy.

Villaraigosa was a mayor who got caught w/ his pants down cheating on his wife.

In the wake of his affair with Spanish-language television reporter Mirthala Salinas, Villaraigosa announced that he was separating from his wife, and on June 12, 2007.

Wife Corina filed for dissolution of marriage in the Los Angeles Superior Court due to adultery.

We need to keep praying for these elections.

May God give us another victory at the state and local levels as He did in 2024.

From the last LA mayor race...

“...The contest was a virtual dead heat on Election Night. Caruso pulled slightly ahead last Thursday, but since then Bass gained a steady lead....”

Let’s hope history isn’t allowed to repeat itself.

Porter is unattractive on every level, both visually and the sound of her voice. Don't even get me started on her policy wise.

She will govern no differently than Hair Gel. No matter how well Hilton is doing on election night I think they will pull their "we're still counting" crap that goes on for days and trunk ballots will be magically "found" to give her the win.

I very much hope I am wrong.

Chad Bianco has a pretty impressive Wiki page. Check it out.

Based on my limited knowledge, I prefer Bianco to Hilton.

California is completely rigged with this “jungle primary”. No way does this sow not find her way to the trough.

Across the country, it appears that Democrats are subverting the Primary process in order to inflict the candidates that a clandestine leadership want onto the voting electorate. This is a plan, not an accident.

Porter should not win. But I don’t live in California so I must admit that having her as governor will be a lot of fun. She will be out of control.

I believe Bianco was a lib at one time. Recently.

Yet according to his Wiki page:

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bianco stated that he would not enforce Coronavirus mandates and did not plan to get vaccinated.

Not only does he claim to be a Constitutional Sheriff, and a Republican -- but he proved his bona fides in 2020.

The “heavy hitter” is Sen. Alex Padilla, who is planning to announce his candidacy after the Proposition 50 result comes out in a couple weeks.
