Ah! It seemed too good to be true. A Marine veteran who was also an oyster-farmer man of the people who, as a Democrat, promised to take down Maine's Republican Senator Susan Collins in the 2026 election. The new Golden Boy of Democrats everywhere as well as an eager media who sung his accolades across the land.
Unfortunately for them, it all came crashing down as you can read in a sad report on Thursday by Benjamin Hart of New York magazine's Intelligencer section which bluntly proclaimed, "Graham Platner’s Honeymoon Is Over."

Oh heck I had someone try to excuse a female beating (not hitting, beating) her son by saying "she is just a kid herself." She was 28.
You get slack cut for things you do when you are under 18. You might get some slack cut for things you do when you are 18-22.
After that, no slack jack.
You are a full adult with all the rights, privileges and responsibilities to go along with it.

Of course even with the 18-22 I am very restrictive on how much slack I cut. You say or do stupid things but no one is hurt, ok some slack will be cut.

heck all you have to do is have a "trauma story" (what we used to call a sob story) and judges are eager to let you back out.
You break into your former girl friend's house, drag her into the street and threaten her with a knife until the police wrestled it from you? Why, it must be because you don't know any better son. So I am going to just release you back out into the public just knowing that you are not going to get in any more trouble despite your long history of violence.
You can guess what happened next.
Getting to the point where I am now in favor of the judge being charged in cases like that. He HAD to know how that was going to end.
