‘Taxation Without Representation’: Trump Admin Battles UN Over Global Carbon Tax

The Trump administration is fighting to block a global carbon tax that a United Nations (UN) agency is attempting to pass quietly this week.

The International Maritime Organization (IMO), a UN body based in London, is meeting this week to adopt a so-called “Net-Zero Framework,” which would levy significant penalties on carbon dioxide emissions from ships that exceed certain limits. The Trump administration argues the proposal could raise global shipping costs by as much as 10%, ultimately driving up prices for American consumers.

“President Trump has made it clear that the United States will not accept any international environmental agreement that unduly or unfairly burdens the United States or harms the interests of the American people,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy said in a joint statement Friday.

“The Administration unequivocally rejects this proposal before the IMO and will not tolerate any action that increases costs for our citizens, energy providers, shipping companies and their customers, or tourists,” the cabinet secretaries wrote.

The United Nations has been considered the basis for a world government since its founding, especially by those who seek one world government.

One of the important requirements for a one world government is the ability to collect taxes, and therefore be free of dependence on national governments.

Get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US and the tax goes away.

From day one it was obvious nothing good could come out of that pig sty.

Thought their responsibility was to prevent wars?

And haven't they just done a bang up job with that.

(maybe it is sarcasm, maybe it isn't. Only my hairdresser knows for sure)

‘Taxation Without Representation’: Trump Admin Battles UN Over Global Carbon Tax

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Kudos to hero Trump!

It remains that the states have never expressly constitutionally given Congress the specific power to police the environment. So even desperate elite Democratic and RINO 16th Amendment (16A; direct taxes)-based federal spending for politically correct, vote-winning climate change purposes in the states is unconstitutional imo.

From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. —United States v. Butler, 1936.

And not only is federal taxing and spending for junk science global warming unconstitutional, but Justice Joseph Story had emphasized that peacetime foreign aid, through the UN in this example, for any reason is unconstitutional.

If the tax be not proposed for the common defence, or general welfare, but for other objects, wholly extraneous (as for instance [all emphases added], for propagating Mahometanism among the Turks, or giving aids and subsidies to a foreign nation, to build palaces for its kings, or erect monuments to its heroes,) it would be wholly indefensible upon constitutional principles. Justice Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution 2 (1833).

Getting back to 16A, that foolish amendment has become the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for organized crime, front-ended by deep state Congress imo. And PDJT47 supporters need to permanently preserve his legacy of draining the swamp by destroying the elite Democratic and RINO corruption machine by making the repeal of 16A, the 17th Amendment (17A) too, popular voting for federal senators, the main talking point of the 2026 primary elections.

Regarding 17A, patriots need to wake up and consider that post-17A crook federal lawmakers discovered long ago that they could promise voters who did not understand the fed's constitutionally limited powers every unconstitutional federal social spending under the sun to get themselves elected. Constitutionally naïve voters eventually took the bait and not only elected these snake oil politicians, but reelected them too!

Then once in office, in addition to confirming compromised justices nominated by likewise compromised presidents, crook federal lawmakers began to abuse their 16A power by simply fulfilling their campaign promises for federal spending, unjustifiably raising taxes to pay for the constitutionally indefensible spending programs that they had promised to clueless voters on the campaign trail.

Regarding patriots roaring to repeal 16&17A, Trump's red tsunami of supporters, evidenced by his record-breaking win in 2024 elections, need to primary all state and federal popularly elected officials who refuse to publicly promise to support a resolution to propose an amendment to the states to repeal 16&17A in January 2027.

In fact, consider that a resolution to repeal 16A was introduced as recently as 2021, but was unsurprisingly ignored.

We'll call the repeal amendment Trump's Boston Tea Party II Amendment.

Once unconstitutional federal taxing and spending is stopped, the states will ultimately find a tsunami of new revenues that they probably won't know what to do with imo, healthcare, including taking care of the poor, and education, on the short list of priorities.

If Trump doesn’t know what being American first means, maybe he should take a walk. I voted for him 3 times, and he is fast walking the US into the arms of Palantir, global government and submission to foreigners world wide. We did help out Israwl tho, and Ukraine.

This isn’t a tax as much as destroying economies through unrealistic emmisions standards. The U.S. would be forced to replace much of its fleet (probably to be built by China since we outsourced all our shipbuilding).
