Donald Trump Gave War a Chance—and It Worked
The Free Press ^ | 13 October 2025 | Aaron MacClean

Rejecting appeasement, the Trump team delivered results through pressure, principle, and timing.

It does not matter what happens next; President Trump really does deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. His achievement will stand whether renewed hostilities break out in Gaza, or Netanyahu joins Bono and Qatar’s Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to sing about peace onstage in Khan Younis. Compelling the release of all living hostages held by Hamas in return for a ceasefire and tolerable concessions is as close as one gets to a miracle in the business of diplomacy. Donald Trump, along with Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, Marco Rubio, and their teams, deserve the world’s admiration.

Barely a week ago, Israel appeared trapped. It had three options in Gaza, each of them unattractive. It could level what was left of the place, probably causing the deaths of many of the remaining hostages, and finally defeat Hamas on the battlefield in a conventional sense while signing up for further isolation and endless trouble in whatever came next....

But then, there is Ukraine where Trump bragged that he would end the Russian invasion of Ukraine within 24 hours once elected.

That was almost 4 years ago.

A lot of magic has happened since Trump changed the name on the door to Department of War. International folks are beginning to understand it is not about rebuilding. It’s about breaking things and leaving the rubble as a reminder.
I can’t think of a better incentive for making peace.

Uncle Lonny: "But then, there is Ukraine where Trump bragged that he would end the Russian invasion of Ukraine within 24 hours once elected.
That was almost 4 years ago."

Pres. Trump-47 takes credit for now eight peace deals he brokered & facilitated:

  1. India-Pakistan, May 2025
  2. Israel-Iran, June 2025
  3. Rwanda-DR Congo, June 2025
  4. Cambodia-Thailand, July 2025
  5. Armenia-Azerbaijan, August 2025
  6. Serbia-Kosovo, September 2025
  7. Egypt-Ethiopia, September 2025
  8. Israel-Hamas, October 2025
A nineth he usually includes is the Abraham Accords from his first term.

Russia-Ukraine proved more difficult that Pres. Trump expected because, (surprise!), it turns out Russia wants ALL of Ukraine and is not yet convinced that will never happen.

So that war continues.
In the meantime, Trump works to get our allies, and not-so-allies, lined up to stop buying Russian energy.
And key to that is peace in the Middle East, so that's what you see happening today.

All of these celebrations seem premature, particularly within the context of the last half century.

It didn’t work because the terrorists have lived to fight again, fed by the mosques, Islamic schools, Israeli peace-at-any-price advocates, and communists in the West.

I agree with myself. Wake up. If it REALLY worked, it wouldn’t be getting praised by all those leftists.
