A Shutdown Could Restore America To True Constitutional Governance
American Thinker ^ | 1 October A.D. 2025 | Ted Noel

“The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.” US Constitution, Article II, §1, Clause 1...

It is increasingly clear that all personnel decisions in the Executive Branch are ultimately exercised by the President. Which brings us to our current situation...

If the government isn’t funded, no job in any unfunded agency technically exists. And if the agencies and programs don’t exist, even for one day, every employee in those agencies and programs can be terminated without any civil service protection or benefits. Your job was cut, and you were collateral damage. Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200.

Just think of how many homes in Northern Virginia would suddenly be for sale. What a way to turn Virginia Red!

...When they finally cave, bring single department “spaghetti appropriations” to the Senate, without the jobs the OMB already cut. Let them filibuster again. Explain on the Sunday shows that non-essential jobs are non-essential and don’t belong in the government.

Do all this and get ready for a real Red Tsunami.

Completely, all for it. Shut it down. We’ll survive somehow. Most conservatives are pretty resourceful. Anti-fa tastes pretty good fried (humor intended?).

The deficit says there is no money. That is what most understand. Pair that with budget cuts that most do not understand.

Cut HHS Staff. First cut those who negotiate grants for Deloitte, Accenture, and similar pinstripe welfare. There is no money for contract firms.

The problem is - you could shut down all of discretionary government, forever, and medicaid/medicare, social security, veterans affairs, military and interest on debt would eat up every penny of tax revenue and then some.

Unless Fed.gov takes on entitlements, or defaults on debt payments, neither of which it will do - then government bloat and deficits are 100% guaranteed.

Well if someone says they want to return to a pure Constitutional government like the founders had, there would be no Social Security, Medicaid, Veterans Affairs, Border Patrol, or a whole host of other agencies, some of which Republicans support and which IMHO are beneficial but which did not exist until the 20th Century (e.g. Border Patrol 1924 and Veterans Affairs 1930).

medicaid/medicare, social security

These make up significantly more than half of annual Federal Outlays. Military is considered "discretionary" in the language of federal budgeting. Medicaid for illegal aliens, OTOH, was "mandatory" until it was ended legislatively back in Feb/Mar 2025.

A shutdown could restore ....

TDS judges will prevent the President from firing anyone or from ending non-essential work. The fed unions are already in court. Unless the SCOTUS rules once and for all that the Executive has authority to fire fed workers & bureaucrats, we'll continue to have lawfare waged against the Executive branch

I agree that entitlements are where the big money is, not those working at Gov jobs. It’s Medicare, Medicaid, etc. that are the biggest problems. I believe that much of unnecessary gov jobs have already been trimmed by DOGE.

SS is a separate program funded by a separate tax other than the income tax. Touch this program any you will reap political suicide.

This shutdown is about one thing expanding and saving the Democrats healthcare plantation called Obamacare. It is the brainchild of Obama and domestic terrorist, Bill Ayers and equals weaponized deathcare. They will never quit what Margaret Sanger started they are true believers

Trumps not running again. Both parties (uniparty) work against him, “our” side less so, but still does.
