James Comey’s indictment may grab headlines, but the real scandal is how many of his past abuses still escape legal or moral accountability.
We have no idea whether the current DOJ indictments will lead to a conviction of James Comey, namely that he authorized FBI subordinates to leak to the media and then lied about it, obstructing Congress in the process.
It may come down to the word of Comey, a known fabricator, against the testimony of his former subordinate, Andrew McCabe, an admitted liar. Take your pick.
We know, however, that Comey is not facing a Trumpian $500 million in potential fines, nor 93 indictments, nor the scrutiny of five different local, state, and federal prosecutors. Nor, like some of the J6 arrested, will he be sent to solitary confinement to await a trial in a year or two or be charged with “illegal parading.”
We also know of the crimes or unethical conduct for which James Comey is not currently being indicted or investigated.
He is not being charged with pleading amnesia or ignorance in 2018—e.g., “I didn’t know,” “I couldn’t recall,” “I didn’t remember”—a reported 245 times while under oath to House investigators and misleading them.
He is not being charged with leaking in 2017 a confidential FBI memo of a conversation with then President Trump—which he improperly stored in his personal safe, in violation of FBI protocols—to the New York Times via a third-party Columbia professor.
He is not being charged for falsely assuring the President of the United States in 2017 that he was not the object of the current Crossfire Hurricane “Russian collusion” investigation—when, in fact, Trump, as the Mueller investigation revealed, was the real target of almost that entire ruse.
He is not being charged for deliberately leaking an FBI memo of a

This is the operative statement: “We have no idea”. What we do know is the DOJ is highly motivated to get Comey’s scalp and will apply any pressure that they can to get him to turn evidence on the other co-conspirators. If they can hang someone on treason, then they will all fall like dominoes since there is no statute of limitations.

Comey is facing a Biden appointed judge who was endorsed by TDS VA Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner. The VA judicial district where Comey will be tried is deep blue.
My guess is that Comey will be found not guilty or given a slap on the wrist. The Dems and TDS organizations will cover his legal fees.
I’ve read a lot of articles about how the Comey indictment is weak and should not have been brought. I’ve read other articles from those on the right about how this will open a Pandora’s Box of future political indictments and cause the country to become a banana republic. Some of these articles make fair points. But they never answer a fundamental question - what do they propose is done about the unprecedented political persecution of Trump since 2016? What is Comey’s penalty for manipulating the FBI to go after Trump and protect Hillary and other Dems? Comey was very careful to do things in a way that created plausible deniability. But we all know that he did it. So I can agree with Andrew McCarthy all I want about how this prosecution is weak and ill-advised. But people like him never answer what is the penalty? The deterrent to stop this from happening again? Without an alternative, I’m happy to go along with Trump’s tit for tat prosecution. Its better than George Bush turning the other cheek over and over.
Because it is all just for show. They are all just actors in the same troop acting out a script to appease the masses. Nothing is going to happen to any of them. It is just part of the Grand Illusion.
Also not charged is Obama who ordered his henchman to overthrow Trump. Despicable.
