New York City Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani holds a 20-point lead over his closest opponent, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, in a Suffolk University CityView poll released this week.
The survey, which includes likely voters in November’s general election, shows Mamdani in the lead with 45 percent support, followed by Cuomo with 25 percent, Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa with 9 percent and incumbent Mayor Eric Adams with 8 percent. Cuomo and Adams are running as independents.
Three other candidates — Conservative Party nominee Irene Estrada, independent Joseph Hernandez and independent Jim Walden — earn a combined 1 percent support.
Nine percent of voters said they are undecided, and 3 percent refused to say.
Asked about the top issue in the race, 21 percent said affordability; 20 percent said crime; 14 percent said economy and jobs; 9 percent said housing; 8 percent said “local response to [President] Trump initiatives”; 7 percent said racism, justice and equality; and 6 percent said schools and education. Other issues polled less than 4 percent.
A slim majority, at 51 percent, said life in New York City is “somewhat or very unaffordable.” Fifty-eight percent, meanwhile, said the economy is worse under President Trump, while 23 percent said it was worse under former President Biden.
More than half, at 56 percent, said they reject accusations that Mamdani is antisemitic.
“This poll shows that the issues New Yorkers really care about in this election are affordability, crime, and the economy,” Suffolk University Political Research Center Director David Paleologos said in a statement.
The poll is similar to other recent surveys that show Mamdani with a commanding lead over his competitors. A New York Times/Siena University poll earlier this month had Mamdani leading with 46 percent, followed by Cuomo with 24 percent, Sliwa with 15 percent,

Millions of imbeciles about to get what they voted for. Couldn’t care less.
They have ZERO idea of what a socialist/communist system is.
...These little town blues, they have all melted away And I'm gonna make a brand-new start of it, right there in old New York
You better believe it, folks You always make Sharia Law there, you make Sharia Law anywhere Come on, come through, New York, New York
Mamdani isn't a Socialist. He's a COMMUNIST, full stop. "Seizing the means of production" is communism not socialism.
FUZM !!
As Trump said today, it’s the best gift possible for Republicans.
He will never be the mayor of New York. Polls don’t matter.
At their core, the Mamdani supporter is a productive, young person who only wants the same government benefits that the underclass gets.
No different really than when Bernie was selling it.
Well you are wrong, actually nothing will stop him
Brilliant move NY... /S
elect a man who supports the radical terrorists that flew planes into your towers! Gosh, what coudl go wrong?
Got any other bright ideas NY?
Sliwa, Adams and the rest need to drop out and give a full throated endorsement of Andrew Cuomo, if there is going to be any chance at all to beat this Communist. I am sure that Cuomo would not be averse to promising all of them various important positions in his administration in return for their support.
I was born in New York, but never really lived there for very long, having been raised in New Jersey. For the last roughly 25 years I’ve been in Texas, and have only visited New York two or three times since leaving the Northeast. However, I dearly want New York to survive, as at least some kind of vestige of what it was. New York has always been very liberal, and will never change, but that is a holy different thing from being outright communist with quite a lot of Islamic flavoring mixed in. Just as the rest of the UK has followed London’s slide into barbarism because London elected a Moslem mayor, so shall much of the US have a similar slide if New York elects this Communist scumbag. I would much rather see Andrew Cuomo, despite his legion of faults, since he is at least a traditional liberal and not a Communist.
In supporting Cuomo, I beg for the forgiveness from the soul of Bob Grant, a sadly departed, long-time radio show host whose hatred for and disgust with any person whose last name is Cuomo was legendary. But, despite his dislike for the “sfaccim” family, I have a strong feeling that even Bob Grant would be supporting Cuomo in these circumstances.
He’s still leading 45-42 even with the support of the other three candidates combined.
Just as well stick with principle and vote Sliwa. It’s foreordained.
The NYC today is not the NYC of 9/11/01.
9/11 could happen today and half the country would be ululating with joy in the streets.
Man, you want to talk about an expensive lesson on the horizon...
Just wait.
I don’t want to hear or read one damned complaint from New Yorkers when they get it good and hard.
Freaking dumbasses.
