A top State Department official on Thursday warned “foreigners” in the U.S. against praising the death of Charlie Kirk, the conservative influencer who was shot and killed at an event in Utah on Wednesday.
“In light of yesterday’s horrific assassination of a leading political figure, I want to underscore that foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country,” Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said in a Thursday morning post on the social platform X.
“I have been disgusted to see some on social media praising, rationalizing, or making light of the event, and have directed our consular officials to undertake appropriate action,” Landau added. “Please feel free to bring such comments by foreigners to my attention so that the @StateDept can protect the American people.”
Since President Trump’s return to the White House, the administration has revoked more than 6,000 student visas, the State Department said last month. Most of the visas were revoked over allegations or charges related to assault, DUI, burglary and support for terrorism.
The administration has targeted international students participating in pro-Palestinian campus protests, claiming they are a threat to national security. Some students have challenged deportation proceedings.
Both Republican and Democratic lawmakers have condemned political violence after Wednesday’s killing of Kirk at Utah Valley University.
The manhunt for the suspect is ongoing. The FBI is offering up to $100,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. The FBI’s Salt Lake City office released photos of a person of interest.

Authorities said they have recovered the rifle believed to have been used to kill Kirk.
Perhaps but I like the message that we are done pretending leftist thought is compatible with American culture.
Of course some illegals are rejoicing over the murder of Charlie Kirk.
No question about that.
Good idea to deport these genocidal cretins back to their home countries as quickly as possible.
Who? The vast majority of illegals don’t even know who the president is. They think they’re far more likely to be arrested than they are, so they try to keep a low profile and they don’t get involved in stuff. Of course there are exceptions people who were politically turned on.
I wonder if those supporting the assassination worry that they could be on the prosecution list for the other side?
“ A top State Department official on Thursday warned “foreigners” in the U.S. against…”
Derek Johnson talked about this just last week. In swearing the oath to the constitution, people swear to protect the US against all enemies both foreign and domestic
The title of this piece says immigrants. But the first line is different. It says foreigners
People who do not adhere to the constitution are foreigners. They can be US citizens but their philosophy is foreign to thr US. The Constitution.
A few decades ago, foreigners living in these United States understood that they had an obligation to stay out of American politics.
More, please!
I think every registered Democrat should probably be afraid. There have been several articles lately about states handing over voter info to the feds, and now there’s all the talk about declaring the Democratic Party a terrorist organization.
I personally know a coupla Mexican illegals who rejoiced over the Charlie Kirk murder.
“The vast majority of illegals don't even know who the president is”
You are kidding right?
There is not a single illegal who doesn't know Trump is president.
We know damn well the first idiot facing deportation proceedings on these grounds will lawyer up claiming 1A rights. My concern is some 0bama/#pedoJoe DEI hire hearing such cases 😡😖
