CBS forbids editing of 'Face the Nation' interviews after complaints from Noem

CBS News will stop editing 'Face the Nation' interviews after Kristi Noem accused it of cutting her remarks, citing a push for more transparency.

Days after complaints over the handling of an interview with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on “Face the Nation,” CBS News said Friday it would no longer allow editing of its guests' words on the Sunday morning public affairs show.

Noem charged that CBS had “shamefully edited the interview to whitewash the truth” about Kilmar Abrego Garcia, whose mistaken deportation to El Salvador made him a symbol of controversies about President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown. Her interview had been taped in advance.

Going forward, CBS said it would only broadcast live or live-to-tape interviews on the show, meaning guests' statements could not be edited, subject to legal or national security restrictions. CBS said the change was made “in response to audience feedback.”

The network's news division is being watched closely for how it deals with the Trump administration following the FCC's recent approval of its parent company's takeover by Skydance Media. Shortly before Paramount Global's sale to Skydance was given the OK, Paramount paid $16 million to settle a lawsuit from Trump over a “60 Minutes” interview with Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

CBS said it had edited four minutes out of its Noem interview for time. On social media, Noem focused on an excised clip where she made a series of unproven accusations about Abrego Garcia, which she said emphasized “the threat he poses to American public safety.”

CBS News noted that the unedited interview was posted on its website and on YouTube, but that didn't stop the complaints.

Like the “60 Minutes” settlement, the policy change opens CBS News to charges that it is capitulating to Trump. During an interview on Tuesday with the Daily Caller, White House...

How pathetic. You have to just about sue these media companies to present the news fairly and equally.

I got a better idea. Stop going on those effing shows. The damage has been done. The morons who watched that show can’t or won’t unhear what they heard.

That and I wish Kristi Noem appreciated how striking of a beauty she already was naturally, without going all extra.

It’s upsetting that Trump completely abandoned the media strategy that him win on the campaign trail, largely at the behest of his son Barron. Trump, his associates including Noem, should appear on podcasts and new media platforms — let the legacy media take from that.

And still they insist that Kilmar was “mistaken”ly deported. When we do actually finish deporting him, will they still say it was mistaken?

In the past, Republican administrations could only put forth timid politicians who spoke like politicians, but Trump’s pit bulls have been eviscerating the far left interviewers. I suppose they finally decided to prevent the public from hearing the truth by editing the interviews.

I remember when she first came onto the scene as a South Dakota candidate - so pretty! 💕She was poised, and had that horseback ruggedness without compromising feminine grace.🏇 Wish women knew the filler/stuff not only doesn’t do favors, but also can remove gravitas.

CBS is damn lucky there were only complaints by Noem, and not a lawsuit — which she would win.

Yes. She should’ve avoided the plastic surgeon. She’s becoming garish. If she continues, in a couple years she’ll be a Guilfoyle twin.

Like the missing minute of the Epstein video? While the others were shut down?

Wired Magazine story:
The FBI’s Jeffrey Epstein Prison Video Had Nearly 3 Minutes Cut Out.
Metadata from the “raw” Epstein prison video shows approximately 2 minutes and 53 seconds were removed from one of two stitched-together clips. The cut starts right at the “missing minute.”

AI must have provided clever ways of taking out and rearranging video that will be almost undetectable and make it look seamless.

For decades there have been audio means of enhancing recorded singers’ voices to make a flat note get brought up or down to sound perfect.

Video that can have dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park movies and famous people next to Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump could be manipulated to do anything.

The bloods in the water. The lamestream media and press who have built them selves up as the arbiters of truth have because of there own lapses in morals and character have painted huge targets on their backs. Look at the 2019 Lincoln Memorial confrontation, the suits against the view and many many others.

The Harris interview cost the lame stream media plenty and now they do it again!?!?!?!?!?

I will say it again.

We need the FCC to enforce truth and accuracy in reporting, edit as you wish but that editing must be noted and the full text, full video must be available for review. With the internet and cloud storage this is no longer a undo burden and is needed now to stop the wholesale fabrication of news and events.

Corrections or miss statements MUST be given the same amount of play as the WRONG or INCORRECT statements or videos when broadcast the first time, be it 10 minutes, 20 minutes 30 minutes if the media source trumped it MUST be one to one.

If they the media did a 1 hour broadcast that was wrong, incorrect or lies then they must do a second broadcast of 1 hour at the same time slot explaining that they were wrong, incorrect or had lied.

A large banner should be run at the bottom of any video STATING that the SOURCE is unnamed, unverified, if an audio broadcast the statement should be made at the start, at the middle and at the end.

The news media pundits will gnash their collective teeth moaning and groaning and will say this will place a chilling restrain on the freedom of the press. It will not. It will stop them from running head long in to judgment that has elevated numinous numbers of fake stories, staged a hate crimes and out right character assignations accusations that have ruined many innocent lives. They will be forced to fact check diligently because they will be held monetarily and criminally libel for miss-reporting the facts.

Truth in reporting will offer up a shield to the small groups, to individuals, people who have had their lives, liberty's, property, impacted by incorrect reporting without due process of law. Words and actions have consequences.

If any of this is not done then the FCC should fine and or remove and or suspend broadcast licenses. Keep pushing wrong, incorrect or lies in news stories and have your broadcast rights removed.

We have truth in advertising laws, why no accuracy in reporting laws? There has always been yellow journalism that is based upon sensationalism and crude exaggeration. But with the advent of the internet there is almost no ability to get out in front of even boldfaced lies that are pushed today over and over.

There should be no editing or exerting with out posting the entire text or video or audio on line and if there is no confirmation and the source in unknown or not named. That should be flashed at the beginning and end of that report. If a photo is cropped the original should be also available for review.

For to long the public has been denied the full information, the full story and unfortunately as it has been shown time and time again. The news media's take on events can no longer be taken at face value because of paid, yes paid partisan behavior and down right bias.

The news media once would state the facts with no taint of partisanship and now all we get is paid partisanship and fascist like bias. News media sources have become extended commercials of talking heads spewing single twisted points of view shouting down all others in a head long rush to try and brain wash the masses.

All you have to do is listen and you will see that they (The news conglomerates, the multi national media empires) no longer are in it for the truth but have become corrupt with power, influence and money.

It's time to rein them in. If this is not done and done soon the blood in the water will not be a metaphor anymore but a reality. Call someone a radical, a racist, say they are supremacists and other vile erroneous lies you will eventually breed the same thing you rant about. And whoa on to you, when that comes home to roost, heads will not just turn, tongues will not just wag. A real and deadly reckoning will take place and there will be blood.
