How Trump is decimating federal employee unions one step at a time

Giving workers a say in workplace policies, the thinking goes, leads to less friction in the workplace and more effective government.
But President Trump has abandoned that idea. Instead, he’s argued that federal employee unions pose a danger to the country. In March, he issued an executive order ending collective bargaining rights for more than one million federal workers at about 20 federal agencies. Almost immediately, many agencies halted automatic deductions of union dues from employee paychecks, cutting off a critical source of cash flow to the unions. Just ahead of Labor Day, Trump issued a new executive order, adding about a half dozen agencies to the list.
Unions have filed lawsuits, alleging Trump is retaliating against them for opposing parts of his agenda. Lower courts temporarily halted the March order; the government appealed.
Two appeals courts then said the Trump administration could move forward while litigation continues, citing the president’s unique responsibility for protecting national security. In their rulings, the judges noted that the Trump administration had told agencies not to terminate collective bargaining agreements while litigation was pending.
But last month, the administration sent agencies updated guidance, telling them they could go ahead with terminating most union contracts — just not those with the National Treasury Employees Union, due to ongoing litigation. To date, nine agencies have canceled contracts, according to the American Federation of Government Employees.

“We may declare a national housing emergency in the fall,” he explained.
Bessent said rate cuts from the Federal Reserve would help alleviate skyrocketing post-COVID-19 housing prices but acknowledged that the administration can do more to cut costs and boost supply for homeowners. The treasury secretary declined to list specific actions the president may take, beyond possibly declaring a national emergency, but he suggested that administration officials are directly studying ways to standardize local building and zoning codes and decrease closing costs. Bessent even suggested that Trump may consider some tariff exemptions for certain construction materials.
“We’re trying to figure out what we can do, and we don’t want to step into the business of states, counties, and municipal governments,” he continued, through bites of his omelette. “I think everything is on the table.”

Walmart stopped stocking their print cartridges.
I think I paid something like $130 for refilled cartridges on Amazon.
Now they want $179 for new ones, black and color.
I might as well go shopping for a new printer that I will be able to get cartridges at a reasonable price.

Several top CDC officials have abruptly resigned, denouncing Dr. Retsef Levi’s leadership of the CDC’s COVID-19 vaccine workgroup.
But in an exclusive sit-down with journalist Maryanne Demasi, Levi is finally revealing the ugly truth about what happened inside the agency’s closed-door meetings.
Last week, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) appointed Retsef Levi, a member of its influential vaccine advisory panel, to lead the agency’s Covid-19 workgroup.
According to PharmaExec.com, Levi has long been a vocal critic of mRNA technology, warning that these vaccines, produced by Moderna and Pfizer, can cause severe harm and even death, particularly in younger children.
He has gone so far as to demand the immediate withdrawal of the mRNA-based Covid-19 shots.
Last week, Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, Biden’s hand-picked monkeypox “czar” who flaunts his BDSM lifestyle, published a fiery resignation letter on X.
In it, he blasted the agency, declaring his position “untenable” and claiming he could no longer “serve in an organization that is not afforded the opportunity to discuss decisions of scientific and public health importance.”
Daskalakis zeroed in on sudden shifts in COVID-19 recommendations for children and pregnant “people” and the controversial overhaul of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).
The Food and Drug Administration has officially rescinded the Emergency Use Authorizations (EUAs) for the COVID-19 vaccine.
The FDA has now granted standard marketing authorization, not emergency approval, for limited populations: Moderna (ages 6+ months), Pfizer (ages 5+), and Novavax (ages 12+). Americans may still access the vaccines if they wish, but only after consultation with their doctors.
Daskalakis’ sharpest attack, however, was directed at Levi himself, accusing him of “dubious intent” and “dubious scientific rigor” and alleging that Levi ignored career staff at the CDC.
But Levi is not taking the attacks lying down. Calm, steady, but firm, he is exposing what really drove the resignations.
According to Levi, the fight was never about personalities, it was about power, scope, and whether the CDC was willing to confront uncomfortable truths.
Levi said the most shocking pushback he faced was over the issue of vaccine injuries.
He revealed that his push to bring in physicians who have treated thousands of vaccine-injured and long COVID patients was met with resistance, with CDC lawyers even trying to argue it was “out of scope.”

Brand name cartridges will always be spendy....I think the knock off refills are pretty reasonable, for HP printers.
