98% of mass shootings occur in gun-free zones.

Schools are gun-free zones.

Does that bring to mind anything we could do to reduce school shootings?

The FBI is still unsalvageable no matter how hard Kash wishes it differently. They are all anti-American scum.

I had a home invasion in about 1988 in Melbourne FL. I think a drug addict followed me home from the grocery store because I drove a Porsche Turbo. After I brought groceries in I heard a noise outside. I looked out of the peephole and saw a large white male with a shaved head and lots of tattoos dancing in a crazy manner. I thought that maybe he wanted to be at my neighbor’s door, but went to my bedroom nightstand to get my revolver in a zippered case. As I came back he busted in my front door, looked around and came at me with hands that looked like a choke attack. I got my gun out and when he saw it pointed at his head, he turned around and ran.

I called the police. They realized that I was not hurt and said something like “if you file a report we will have to confiscate your gun for being present at a crime scene and you probably won’t get it back”. I said “what if he comes back?” and they said, you call us, that is why we are here. I did not file a report and still have my 44 spl revolver today. A crime that never showed up in statistics, and police actions to make their numbers look good and F-you.

They lied to you. And, even if true, what would keep you from buying another gun? You drove a Porsche, so the answer isn’t money.

I don’t have any guns or ammunition. I’m at the mercy of whoever wants what I have... Looking forward to the confrontation 😎

I was thinking something similar. If they confiscated my gun I’d go out the next day and buy another.

Selective crime deterrences may not be quantifiable but are a certainty, where a would be criminal decides against screwing with the old man that just looks like he might shoot the crap out of him.

The gun I had was a Charter Arms 44 SPL. I also had a Dan Wesson 44 mag, a 45 ACP Colt Series 70 Gold Cup and a Remington Model 700 .270 Win. I was worried they would search and take them all. I assumed the police were worse than the home invader.

Maybe the errors – or perhaps the deliberate under-reporting – were local issues.

I suspect that this is the case, at least for a significant portion of underreporting.

That said, shouldn't we inquire as to why our federal law enforcement experts did not figure this out?

Attempting to quantify events that “never occurred” because they were never reported is far more factoid that statistic.

Self reported events skews the data base from the very beginning.

Statistics such as these can be completely independent of government, like the fece maps of Democrat cities.

Politicians and government employees have shown themselves repeatedly to be dishonest.

They are not interested in the truth, they are interested in appearance.

In other words, your gun collection in 1988 was approximately the same value as 6 months of car payments on your Porsche? :) I think that should become a metric for people to aim for — you’re young, your collection should be maybe 2 car payments. You’re middle-aged, starting to think about retirement, your gun collection should be many multiples of your car payments. Mine would have been a whole lot of car payments except for a tragic cosmoline and boating accident a few years ago.

At any rate, when I saw your story, I kind of wondered if you are actually a friend of mine who lived in Melbourne and had a similar experience. Nearly identical facts, although when I knew him before he moved there he only had a 9mm. Glad you were able to resolve the issue appropriately.

Defensive use of guns is under counted/under reported because gun owners do not want the hassles.
1) A big number of defensive use are in high crime cities with anti-gun administrations.
2) A significant number of defensive use are by gun owner who themselves are not perfect...they have unpaid traffic tickets, etc.
3) A significant number of defensive use are by illegal immigrants. My life has been saved twice by illegal immigrants who pulled a gun and pointed it at my attacker causing him to back off.

Rights, including the 2d Amendment are possessed by all, both legal and illegal immigrants. But they don’t need the hassle. (Illegal immigrants are PRIVILEGED to be in the US. Deporting them removes their PRIVILEGE. not their RIGHT.)

What a surprise.

This is why *studies* and * *polls*, and *statists* are absolutely meaningless. You can prove ANYTHING you want with the correct statistics conveniently ignoring the ones that don’t suit you or your agenda.

Dissolve and reform the FBI.

They are completely compromised, and are irredeemable.

Do it now!

You could t do that if you lived in a rathole like Maryland.

First, if you didn’t have it you’d need to take an eight hour class then wait for approval.

Then you’d need to fill out a permission slip online. You take that code to the gun shop and pick out your new gun. Then there a mandatory seven day “cooling off” period. Even if you have a Ccw permit.

It’s insane.
