Trump orders removal of Federal Reserve governor
BBC ^ | Aug 26 | BBC

US President Donald Trump has said he will immediately remove Federal Reserve official Lisa Cook from her position, in a major escalation in his battle against the US central bank.

He said there was "sufficient reason" to believe Cook had made false statements on mortgage agreements, and cited constitutional powers which he said allowed him to remove her.

In response, Cook said Trump had no authority to fire her and she would not resign.

FED officials are untouchable. The Supreme court has said this.

Trump should back Rand Paul's Audit the Fed bill which would shine some light on their practices and which they absolutely don't want.

Thoughts?

There are three branches of government: legislative, executive, and judicial. Which branch is the Federal Reserve in? If the answer to that is neither “legislative” nor “judicial”, then Trump has the authority to fire her.

I know nothing about how the Fed has been set up, but it's my opinion that there is no one earning a government paycheck that should be untouchable. Somehow, some way: everyone must be accountable as part of our Constitutional system of checks and balances.

And yes, AUDIT THE FED!!! Or get rid of it. Is its presence even constitutional?

I’ll defer to DJT and the team behind him.

Consider that Trump’s goals here are much bigger than one FED governor, it’s larger than the FED itself, it is among other things, the “Golden Age” he speaks of, his Oval adorned with gold. Note his comments with FIFA a few days ago?

I’m thinking that DJT is typically many steps ahead of clowns like this governor. Her refusal to step down is likely, probably, expected, with some next steps to either get rid of her some other way, or use her refusal to accomplish larger goals. Timing is always part of DJT/team’s plans.

Furthermore, the FED is just one gear in the machine here. I’ve been doing some research on the BIS, the “FED” to about 70 of the world nations “FEDs”. The FED is prominent player in the BIS, and Jerome Powell, also being eeeked out by DJT/team, is on the BIS board as well as the FED.

We talk all the time about audits of the FED, audits of Ft. Knox. But hardly ever about the BIS, an independent and immunity from local laws, sitting in secrecy and shadowy building in Basel.

FED is not in the Constitution,
despite Malta’s and Italy’s and EU’s attempts to impose it.

FED “officials” should be fired, and if they stole, like
here, jailed.

"...Cook said Trump had no authority to fire her and she would not resign..."

Really? No authority??

In my entire working career, every job application I ever made included questions about ever having had trouble with the police or had ever faced charges in the law.

That meant, a clean slate was a condition of my being hired or my employment at that concern! Any employer can refuse to hire you or could actually fire you if you faced charges.

Why are these criminals hired and kept on the job (any job) once it's obvious that they broke the law!! What's so special about them?

--- "Thoughts?"

With comments to the time of my comment, all are valid. The Fed, through some of its appointees, is acting as if it is somehow sovereign and apart from the executive branch of the government.

So kudos to all who have commented so far.

At the minimum, audit the Fed. At the maximum, abolish it.

The Supreme Court’s decisions are not enforceable. Trump can fire any government worker he sees fit.

The Federal Reserve is an “independent agency” of the federal government...... not a distinct branch.

It is accountable to Congress but operates independently in its monetary policy decisions to avoid political influence.

Its structure combines public and private elements, with the “Board of Governors being a federal govt agency” and the 12 regional Reserve Banks having a corporate structure owned by member banks.

Get a clue by the law trump can fire “for cause” which is exactly what he is doing. Stop idolizing rand paul already. The courts can argue if the cause was reasonable but saying they are untouchable is being no better than a democrat lying like they do.

They would claim that the Fed is privately owned.

Oh, it’s political

Sure it is ........ but it “says” it’s “accountable to Congress but operates
independently in its monetary policy decisions to avoid political influence.”

All done in 2013...

The federal income tax passed...

The 17th Amendment ratified...

The Creature from Jekyll Island, aka the Fed, created...

Not a coinkydink.

From the Fed’s own description:

“The Federal Reserve System is not “owned” by anyone. The Federal Reserve was created in 1913 by the Federal Reserve Act to serve as the nation’s central bank. The Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., is an agency of the federal government and reports to and is directly accountable to the Congress.”

Keep reading, pal:

“...the Reserve Banks are organized similarly to private corporations. For instance, each of the 12 Reserve Banks operates within its own particular geographic area, or District, of the United States, and each is separately incorporated and has its own board of directors. Commercial banks that are members of the Federal Reserve System hold stock in their District’s Reserve Bank. However, owning Reserve Bank stock is quite different from owning stock in a private company.”
