The State Department said Thursday that it’s reviewing the records of more than 55 million foreigners who hold valid U.S. visas for potential revocation or deportable violations of immigration rules.
In a written answer to a question posed by The Associated Press, the department said that all U.S. visa holders are subject to “continuous vetting” with an eye toward any indication that they could be ineligible for the document.
The department said it was looking for indicators of ineligibility, including visa overstays, criminal activity, threats to public safety, engaging in any form of terrorist activity, or providing support to a terrorist organization.
“We review all available information as part of our vetting, including law enforcement or immigration records or any other information that comes to light after visa issuance indicating a potential ineligibility,” the department said.
Since President Donald Trump took office in January, his administration has thus far focused on deporting migrants illegally in the United States as well as holders of student and visitor exchange visas. The State Department's new language suggests that the re-vetting process, which officials acknowledge is time-consuming, is far more widespread.
Should such information be found, the visa will be revoked and, if the visa holder is in the United States, he or she would be subject to deportation.

“”””Trump administration reviewing all 55M people with US visas for potential deportable violations””””
The HAMMER is being dropped. I assume failing to register as an illegal alien by April 2025 will also be cause for deportation.
YES, !! MILLER HAS PRESODENT TRUMP’S EAR!!
55 million?! Holy crap!
5 YEAR IMMIGRATION MORITORIUM. And checks like my Great- Grandfather had to go through to get in.
The real shock is that there are 55M people living in the US on a visa.
In 1970 that would have been 1/4 of the population. In that year, the actual percentage was about 4%, or about 8M.
And that was when they were telling us to stop having children because we were “overpopulated” and Paul Ehrlich was on Johnny Carson saying that there should be a penalty for having more then 3 kids.
The people who are here now are the luckiest human beings in history. They got to come to the most powerful and successful country in human history and they and their families had NOTHING to do with it. Most arrived here on a jet aircraft, at least if they had visas.
AI baby
I'm joking- but, yes, this is what I voted for because I'm tired of feeling like a foreigner in my own damn country.
I LOVE IT !
How many more “winnings” can I type?!
Many more, I hope.
Seems like it would be reasonably easy.. From a systems persepective to flag driver’s license /passport or whatever ID docs they have of anyone with expired visas. Or as they expire.
Then if they get picked up/ pulled over, they would be immediately detained for ICE.
That would probably make a large number self deport.
This should help the housing market shortfall, deport them.
“And that was when they were telling us to stop having children because we were “overpopulated” and Paul Ehrlich was on Johnny Carson saying that there should be a penalty for having more then 3 kids.”
The funny part about that is that people who move to America use much more energy here than they would where they came from.”
Great news!! I can just imagine the crap they’ll come across.
I am disgusted, but not surprised, that this has not previously been standard practice.
I can see how there are 55 million visas out there whether they are being used or not. Much, if not all, of State Dept’s Consular Affairs budget comes from visa revenue so there hasn’t been much incentive for CA to deny them.
Democrats losing millions of voters. :)
shakes head. in what imaginary world does any country need 55M foreigners?
that’s nuts.
Indeed it’s what real presidents do.
THIS IS WHAT I VOTED FOR..YES YES 100000 TIMES YES
