First off Ukraine had SOVIET nuclear weapons on their land after the dissolution of that empire. They NEVER had the codes or launch keys to those weapons they were ALWAYS under Soviet control and then the Russian Federation control. Ukraine couldn’t have used those weapons if they wanted too. If they would have kept the nuclear materials Russia would have gone to war to retrieve them full stop. So stop dreaming they every actually held functional deployable weapons they simply did not.
Land is transferred through all of human history via force of violence. This is and will always be that way. The militaries job is to kill people and hold territory. If you cannot physically defend a section of land you don’t own it regardless of what imaginary lines on a map say. Reality is boots on the ground with men who will kill to keep that ground.
The tarrifs and the economy are the only thing that can swing the midterms no one under 50 gives to F’s about Putin “him winning” that’s delusional boomer crap. The fact that common prescription drugs are triple in price matters to way more people. The still high food prices matter. Literally no one I know under 50 cares at all about Putin. They care way more about Israel and Hamas(Palestine) they care about women’s reproductive health, they care about the jobs market and the rampant H1B scan and ghost jobs used to further the H1B scam.
The USSR is gone, Russia is a white western country that is not commuting suicide with Muslims ,woke, Marxism ( they been there done that) or globalhomo. In this regard they are better off than any Western nation including The USA we have half the population that is woke and Marxist neither is tolerated at all in Russia. There’s NO WAY Putin will agree to a ceasefire without concessions from the Ukraine. Recognizing the Crimean peninsula isn’t enough. It’s a sad but necessary reality if you’re serious about ending the war.

October 1962 - what was the position/demand from the United States?
February 2014 - what was the position/line in the sand (... and repeatedly/clearly stated for years prior...) from the Russian Federation?
