Right of center candidates finished first, second and third. Rodrigo Paz of the Christian Democrats, was first (32%); Jorge Quiroga of the Allianz Libertad (27%), finished second; and, Samuel Doria Medina, an independent businessman, finished third (20%). The highest ranking left-wing candidate finished fourth with 8%.

The run-off will be in two weeks. In the meantime, we hope to find that we gained control of the lower house and Senate of the Bolivian Congress.

Rodrigo Paz, the first place finisher, used to run the “Revolutionary Left” party. I am not sure your analysis is correct. :-)

In the southern hemisphere, isn’t left right and right left?

If the Trumproe Doctrine works, it would be nice to find out that behind the scenes we are trading Ukraine for Cuba and Venezuela. Regime changes in all three would be helpful.

You can vote your way into Socialism, but you’ll have to shoot your way out.

I’ve seen Paz described by some as a “centrist” as distinct from “right of center.” He is to the right of the now disgraced socialists who have brought the country to ruin, but he’s no Javier Milie. Let’s see how the run-off turns out. If the first place guy is too squishy centrist, the second place guy should be able to win by appealing to those who voted for the third place guy.
