Democrats are furious and accusing the president of overreach.
“This is dictator-level stuff,” Democrats on the House Oversight Committee posted on X. “Deploying the military on DC’s streets only creates fear and chaos. Donald Trump will be held accountable for this brazen power grab.”
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-K.Y.) plans to hold a hearing with Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D), Council Chairman Phil Mendelson (D) and D.C.’s Attorney General Brian Schwalb (D) in September to discuss Monday’s actions.
In a Monday press conference, Bowser called Trump’s actions “unsettling and unprecedented.”

The visuals will give the media much to work with but this is probably intended to be a showcase for Trump to demonstrate that modern city problems are indeed fixable and this could be not only a success for DC, but a breakthrough demonstration to big city voters of what more conservative leadership can do in their own city, and a demonstration to the nation that the old ways did work and can still work if brought back.
The main efforts will show action on the homeless and on big city black crime, two things that the left created in the last 55 years and gave the impression were unfixable.

Just the Smithsonian has SO much in storage that could easily occupy the majority of any emptied buildings.
The dims are all limo liberals. They never stray far from the Capital building or their upscale apartments. They have drivers and staff. Regular people who have to live in DC are exposed to obama’s son’s crimes.
It’s not dictatorial for the president to enforce the laws.
They don’t believe crime is bad. Every single newscast last night led with the line that crime is at a 25-year low in DC.
