I agree.
“China is on the verge of seeing a major collapse”
I’ll wait until I see it and $40T in debt says that we’ll beat them to it.
Since China is horribly overpopulated then what exactly is the problem?!
“Although we have been hearing it for years, I do think it’s closer than ever before.”
Likewise their ‘predictions’ of Russia’s pending economic collapse has made them the butt of jokes in the Realist world.
Ill remain skeptical. I remember the “there are starving people in China!” syndrome from the 80s and we see where that got us.
I hear this population drop fears on all kinds of countries. Is there a recent example where that happened and truly had a negative effect? And anything post war feel has too many other variables.
>Since China is horribly overpopulated then what exactly is the problem?!
- youth avoiding manufacturing jobs, dropping out of work
- company creation slowing down dramatically
- local and regional governmental entities not taking proactive steps until federal government demands it (wait and see pattern)
- complete lack of trust in the only former investment method: real estate
- zero-covid taking heavy toll on society
- Xi losing power over military
I don’t think they have anything to worry about in that respect. Change doesn’t come easy in China, it takes extremes of natural disaster and mismanagement.
You got that right. China has survived for 5000 years. It’s people are used to living in poverty. Americans have not seen poverty since the Great depression. Not many Americans are alive from depression era. The debt approaching 40 Trillion looks ominous to me.
China’s population has been declining for the past several years. If you look at the demographic pyramid, they are totally screwed. You can’t have more children if you don’t have enough women of child-bearing age.
They’ve got well over a billion people, will be a long time before they run out.
It's just like the imminent nuclear fusion power breakthrough.
Take Gordan Chang with a grain of salt. Chang has been a frequent guest on mornings with Maria on FBN for years now. Chang’s message has been clear: China is bad! But I’m not sure of the accuracy of his prediction regarding the coming Chinese collapse, (something he’s been predicting for some time now).
Chang is kind of a one trick pony. When he’s featured, just think of Mr. Mackey from South Park: China is bad, mmmmmk.
Right. We’ve got more billions of people on the planet than ever—and the numbers are still rising.
Now, if you want to get into the implications over time of certain populations rising while others fall, that’s something else.
But we’ve got our overlords here telling us we’re in trouble because we’ll have so many fewer jobs than people.
I agree with you but the US isn’t in great shape either, trillions in debt, blue states and cities in open rebellion, propaganda from the other side would be reporting the US on the verge of total collapse
The word collapse is never defined.
You got that right. China has survived for 5000 years.
“China” as a government has seen numerous invasions, conquests, split-ups and overthrows in the last hundred years alone. The idea that “China” has existed as a unitary identity for 5,000 years is a misconception. It is like saying “Western Civilization” has existed for 5,000 years. Well... yes, sort of.
Gordon Chang knows a lot about China.
But his crystal ball sucks.
My point is China survives poverty better than Americans will.
Intentionally.
