Colden Kimber, 28, was fatally jabbed in the neck with a six-inch blade on July 26 while waiting at a Muni stop in the Ingleside neighborhood with his girlfriend.

Probably the K-Ingleside streetcar. It is one of San Francisco's better neighborhoods too.

We read of violence on subways, etc. almost daily. And then some folks ask why civilians usually don’t step in.

There’s the surprise factor that freezes people. And then there’s the risk of great injury or even death, as seen in this article.

In a sane country, the intervening civilian would be legally armed and so minimize his risk. But try that in a Democrat area, and you just might spend more time in jail than the criminal.

No, in a sane country, the mentally ill would be institutionalized, youth committing crimes would be dealt with in a manner that deterred future (and more serious) crime, and a shaming of fathers who abandoned their offspring would be not only accepted, but encouraged.

That we would see a firearm as a necessity for our protection in a "sane" society is all the evidence we need that we're not living in a "sane" society.
