How many ‘judges’ actually write their own opinions?..................
Yeah exactly what my first suspicion is too.
We’re going to reach a point soon where we have to start questioning WHY AI is providing these sorts of hallucinations and counter-factual statements.
(I know I put my tinfoil hat somewhere here….)
I use AI as a research tool, but I never accept an AI answer as correct. I always go to the source that AI points to. It’s a shortcut, but to rely on any statement of fact from AI is a shortcut to a malpractice lawsuit.
Absolutely. I used Wiki in law school, but only to stimulate ideas for REAL legal research. Was a great first look but NEVER a last word. (Got my JD in 2017 at age 65.)
Is Lexis-Nexis no longer a thing??
My reply here on FR was written by GROK.
Absolutely. I said “first look”. A typical Wiki article integrates a number of sources.
Frequently, the judge decides the outcome, then gives the opinion to a clerk with instructions how to write it. When the facts or law don’t fit, they just invent things. Attorneys can get disbarred for false statement to a court. Judges who do the same should be removed. It’s quite shocking and frustrating to deal with a judge who makes counterfactual findings, BUT THEY DO IT! The mindset is “just get this off my desk”. and the appellate courts often don’t care to call it misconduct if they like the judge.
Judges who do the same should be removed.

We need new rules on removing judges. Too many really, really bad ones continue to hold their positions. I think if you get overturned by a higher court more than 3 times, there should be a review & consideration for removal.
At the time this guy became a lawyer (1991) the percentage of African American lawyers stood at 2.3% of all lawyers. Obama’s criteria for selecting black lawyers had the effect of alienating 97.7% of all candidates who were lawyers since 1991. It can be argued that race based selections are unconstitutional and that this particular buffoon’s selection was void abinitio (unlawful, without legal effect at inception). My hope is for industrial trios right thinking lawyers to file a cause of action seeking to remove all judicial selections based on melanin, ethnicity, religion, etc. The spoils system based on anything but merit is killing the country and quality of life.
Another DEI hire, or crappy (DEI) law clerks with no oversight by the judge.
The Dems use diversity as camouflage to appoint unqualified partisan hacks.
Because,,, the database they are given to use as input is full of hallucinations and counter-factual statements. And the AI's are just trying to give us what we ask for. The AI's have become the USER and we are now the APP.
One lawyer on YTube says it is AI. There have been many cases where precedent cases are pushed into briefs — which is normal. But, many times the citations and quotes are total BS. What is damning about this is that the judge and his clerks did not bother to check any of the cases cited — since many did not even exist. Too many mistakes to be simply typos.
Not necessarily fraud, but most likely some AI like ChatGPT simply pulling crappola out of its arsehole.
If Democrats use a quote, that quote is valid, genuine, and true, even if it’s totally made up.
If we use quotes, they’re fake, even if they’re proven true.
