“The only immigrants I saw working in Italy made Donner kebabs.”
When was that? Because if you’ve been to Rome, Florence, Naples etc lately, and saw no immigrants (other than at kabob shops), I’d recommend an immediate appointment with a good ophthalmologist.
We can’t tell men how to be men....if Italian men keep sitting on their arses, then there is nothing we can do.
If the thief is a dummy, you might be robbed because the thief thought that your “jewelry” was real.
I don’t wear any jewelry or valuable watches, etc. Why tempt an idiot?
Just adding to your posts about theft in Italy many years ago...
In the '60s, '70s, and '80s, many relatives traveled to Italy, and a few were robbed there. In the '80s and '90s, I knew many Americans of various backgrounds who traveled to Italy and returned home with similar stories.
None of them were hurt, and they were not threatened, but every country has always had a criminal element. Several years ago, an American college student was killed on the day he arrived in Italy by an Italian man. No one talks about that heartbreaking case. Then, a few years ago, two young Americans murdered an Italian police officer in Italy.
But, while shutting (or slowing) down immigration altogether might not stop crime, it might slow or stop more criminals from moving in.
Don’t own anything.
In places like Italy, it’s sensible to carry a Mexican wallet, that is, a pouch that hangs from your neck under your shirt. You might also carry a wallet filled with Monopoly money in case you get mugged or your pocket gets picked.
I was kidding. When you see a *SMIRK* in my posts, it means I’m kidding. I would NEVER purposely attract trouble. I might have to hurt someone. ;)
And then when you DO, the PAPERWORK is insane! It never ends! *SMIRK*
P.S. I DO have an ex-husband - and he was trouble enough at the time. But he’s still alive...as far as I know, Officer! Ignore those muffled sobs coming from the trunk of my car. ;)
Good suggestions.
When traveling, I used to wear a slim money belt under my shirt. No one could see it. Got to be careful everywhere.
“I was there last month. American tourists outnumber Sub Saharans by at least five to one - and I didn’t personally see any violence, only too many of the usual scammers.”
Visited Rome last May.
Only bad experience was leaving Colosseum when two Muslim women tried to pick my wife’s backpack.
One was going for the zipper, the other was going for the pick.
Their hands got slapped and they still denied their actions.
Never forget who opened the floodgates.
Except for a few countries, Europe is conquered.
It's pretty easy to tell an Algerian et al. from a Congolese et al.
You need to subscribe to National Geographic. 😂
