Trump gives Russia 50 days to make Ukraine deal

US President Donald Trump told Russia on Monday to end its Ukraine war within 50 days or face massive new economic sanctions as he laid out plans for new infusions of weaponry for Kyiv via NATO.

Trump said he was "very, very unhappy" with Vladimir Putin, underlining his insistence that his patience had finally snapped with the Russian leader's refusal to end his three-year-old invasion of Ukraine.

"We're going to be doing very severe tariffs if we don't have a deal in 50 days, tariffs at about 100 percent," Trump said during an Oval Office meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

According to Reuters, we pay 16% of NATO’s budget. It would be interesting if our portion was used to buy weapons from ourselves to send them to Ukraine.

He didn’t even bomb Tehran, and Russia has so many nuclear bombs, they can blow up the world at least as many times as the US can. There is no there-and-back-again bombing run that can be done against Russia.

Trump is great in many respects, but he often speaks without thinking.

"Trump is making the US / EU Military Industrial Complex Great Again! Good for the American and EU worker."

Ugh. You really do love killing and death. And you're OK with it as long as it helps "the American and EU worker." Yours is truly a disgusting, sociopathic sentiment. But I expect nothing less from someone with so-called European "Values."

On a related note, have you bought your hijab for the rapidly approaching takeover of France by the Musloid horde? Have you purchased your open-backed sandals so you can drop to your knees in worship of the moon good five times per day?

You'll soon need both to participate in those European "Values," Froggy.

Have you ever seen someone killed or maimed? Have you ever seen a mother shrieking in front of her dead child? You need to start thinking about those things before running off at the mouth with your Yook-worshiping bullcrap.

Trump will now rearm Europe (combined with EU production) just as I said he would endlessly here on FR.

Ah, no.

Trump is facilitating the transfer of additional Patriot missile batteries to Ukraine through a multi-party arrangement involving NATO countries paying for and transferring existing systems, while the U.S. replenishes allied stockpiles.

NATO nations have struggled to invest 2% of their GDP in their own defense; the goal is now 5% of GDP for NATO members. The US is withdrawing its role as NATO cop so the countries are anxious to arm themselves. NATO nations have had, and still  don't have, the money to arm themselves at a 2% level, must now reach 5%, but you think they're going to arm Ukraine first?

Trump is SELLING armaments to NATO. Countries like Germany are going to donate their old Patriot system to Ukraine while arming itself with the new Patriot systems.

NATO considers the Ukraine war lost, so most NATO nations aren't going to send the better equipment they buy from the US, but will keep those for itself. Patriot systems are not offensive weapons, they are for defense against missiles. However, NATO won't give the Ukraine the better missile defense systems even while Kyiv is under attack.

Meanwhile, Russia is free of sanctions for 50 days and Ukraine is, yes, still losing. You have to spin hard to pose this as a win for Ukraine.

On Steve Bannon’s War Room he’s been talking about Russia building up an army of over 650,000 troops for an assault on Odessa which if successful would cut off Ukraine from water access for shipping

Trump is talking out of his azz again. He will change his mind several times before the 50 day deadline.

Trump is a loose cannon on a rolling deck.

Yeah, in Ukraine, killed by the Russians.

In 50 days, a lot can happen. Putin’s hordes of Korean mercennaries could be parading in Majdan Square in Kiev by then. He probably interpreted this “ultimatum” as a green light.

Has Trump, who seems to see himself as the world’s policeman, outlined the settlement that he wants to force Russia to accept?

“Have you ever seen someone killed or maimed? Have you ever seen a mother shrieking in front of her dead child?”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><

Exactly, I have. And Trump is fed up with that Kremlin behavior that’s killing mostly civilians in Ukraine. A Russian drone recently targeted a one-year-old Ukrainian baby — I posted about it here on FR. It was the cover story of the New York Post.

Russia is operating like ISIS — like a terrorist state — deliberately killing civilians in Ukraine. That’s why Trump pushed so hard to secure the mineral deal in Ukraine: to make Ukraine’s defense against Russia’s invasion possible. Without money, you can’t produce weapons.

Trump is reviving America’s — and the EU’s — Military Industrial Complex. And yes, it’s good for the Western worker. When things are good for the Western worker, it becomes de facto good for Ukrainian civilians too. Why? Because then they can acquire U.S. weapons — some bought by America, some by Europe, some by NATO, and some by Ukraine itself.

All of that is possible only thanks to the American and EU worker. Period

“Does anyone see it any other way?”

Putin sells oil to India and W Europe. That is the way Putin finances the war.

If Trump flooded the world with cheap oil and convinced India, W Europe to buy western oil Putin could not finance his war. Saudis almost certainly would side with Trump.

Would China then finance Putin’s war and make Russia a wholly owned subsidiary of China?... Just to keep everyone else occupied in that war?

“100% tariffs on jack sh!t.”

That 100% is for secondary sanctions on buyers of (unspecified, presumably oil) Russian exports. Not on Russian exports to the USA.

During President Trump’s announcement, he specifically said “we call them secondary sanctions.”

China and India would lose far more if their goods are charged a 100% tariff coming into the USA, than they currently gain on the discounts buying oil from Russia. Saudi Arabia and other suppliers can provide them oil at market rates.

One of the drawbacks of the price cap sanctions, is that China and India get a competitive advantage from cheaper energy, because they can demand a big discount from Russia, who must sell.

Under President Trump’s approach, the incentives are reversed. If Russian oil flows, China and India lose money, and the US Government gets a tariff windfall.
