Why is the Federal Government in the “school” business.

Where in the Constitution is the government required to give states money for schools?
The DoE is a fairly recent creation.
UNCREATE it NOW! We did better without it.

Somehow I "survived" summer without "programs" or government "activities". The whole point of summer was freedom.

Screw ‘em. Not our responsibility.
Don’t have kids if you can’t be present in your kids’ lives after school.

The US government has no reason to be in the babysitting business.
I remember in my day we played outside and didn’t come home until after mom and dad were home from work and dinner was about to be served.
I cannot find what the 20 states are from the article. Since the lede mentions it, why not include it in the article?

We didn't have after school Play time. We went home...ate our supper and played at the school yard...until the street lights came on. Twenty kids...boys and girls...all playing baseball...not a fight that I ever remember.
We had street dances, too. No fights.
On weekends we went to Charlotte Beach...took the bus...no fights.
The whole thing amounted to...we didn't need supervision...we behaved ourselves.

What happened to entertaining yourselves? We played sandlot baseball, rode bikes, went to community pools etc.

Boys and Girls Club is a great organization. I hope they can reapply for at least some funding.

“Congress set aside money for the programs”
If this is correct than it takes more than Trump simply slashing the programs for funding to be withdrawn.

I can’t write about all of them but for the Boys and Girls Club (at least here) that number would be zero.
