Analysis: Australia's climate left won't be able to stand new Trump appointee Steven E. Koonin who dares to question the science around global warming

The climate science establishment is fond of lecturing us about the dangers of rising temperatures.

With the return of Donald Trump as US President, however, it is rising scrutiny, not the rising heat, that has them most alarmed.

In May, President Trump signed an executive order titled "Restoring Gold Standard Science," requiring federally funded agencies to ensure their work is accountable, reproducible, and subject to open debate.

It was unremarkable in tone, bordering on mundane. Yet the reaction was swift and bitter.

The clause insisting that scientists consider dissenting views and protect employees from retaliation for expressing them cuts across the grain.

If applied to almost any other field of government-funded research, it would have passed unnoticed. But in the domain of climate science, where agreeing with the so-called consensus is a condition of entry, it was received as heresy.

The New York Times reported this week that the Department of Energy had hired three scientists “well-known for their rejection of the overwhelming scientific consensus on climate change”.

The three were named as physicist Steven E. Koonin, atmospheric scientist John Christy, and meteorologist Roy Spencer.

Mr Koonin, in particular, has been a persistent irritant to the climate establishment, not least because of his credentials.

He served as Under Secretary for Science in the first Obama administration, was chief scientist at BP, and before that, provost at Caltech.

In 1985, he co-authored one of the first textbooks on computational physics, making him unusually well qualified to assess the limitations of climate models.

The logic is circular: those who challenge the consensus are said to mislead the public because the consensus is what the public must believe.

All this might be less troubling if climate policy were a purely academic concern.

But the policies it justifies are costly, coercive, and far-reaching.

Global warming may be real. The “science” attempting to explain it is not.

Anthropogenic global warming is an untested myth. Like transgenderism, not a real thing.

These 3 guys must be real badasses to be able to affect that much area.

Australia is about 11 times the size of Texas, or roughly 5 times the size of Alaska, or roughly the size of the Lower 48 States.

There is no such thing as manmade climate change.

And even if there is, so what? The climate has always changed, we adapt.

The tilt of the earth and its rotational speed have changed. Either one of these could cause climate change, combined, they have a significant impact.

Shortest day - https://www.space.com/astronomy/earth/did-you-feel-it-earth-just-had-one-of-its-shortest-days-ever-and-2-more-are-coming

Wobble - https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasa-study-solves-two-mysteries-about-wobbling-earth/

Add in the increasing pace of the shift of the magnetic pole, and you can see the problems isn’t caused by a few pickup trucks.

The so-called climate change “science” is just part of a cover up of a series of problems that the global elite know can’t really be fixed.

man-made global warming is the only thing we don’t believe.

The planet has been warming since the last ice age, which is why they call this an interglacial.

What science?!

Geologist, Professor Ian Plimer, utterly demolishes the human-induced "climate emergency" fairy tale in three and a half minutes...

I support this....but I’ve got to say, in some ways its a huge competitive advantage for America to be just about the only western country that does not subscribe to Gaia worship. It means we can attract a lot of investment and will enjoy much lower energy costs than competitors.

I know these guys, they are REAL Scientists.

Scientist is somebody, who is not afraid to stand for the truth, even if it is unpopular or you can get persecuted.

See Galileo Galilei.
In his age 99.9% scientist believed that Earth is a center of the universe, and there were actually good scientific arguments supporting that!

It's all based on the notion that CO2 causes warming.
And that is questionable.
All that is certain is that it fuels a trillion dollar grief industry.

Crackpot Science by Control Freak Crackpots

From https://www.nsf.gov/nsb/documents/2000/nsb00215/nsb50/preface.html

The relationship between the Board and the Foundation is distinct among government research agencies. Indeed, the Board's second Chair, Chester Barnard, president of the Rockefeller Foundation, used to refer to the Board as "this peculiar organization." The singular partnership between the Board and the Foundation has been largely responsible for creating in the United States what is the world's most vibrant and fruitful research environment.

That's some insight you got there, FRiend ;^)

Back when humans were intelligent, when the climate warmed or cooled, got wetter or dryer, people would move to more congenial locations rather than try to reverse the climate change.

The notion that humans can alter the climate on a global scale is preposterous. The climate BS is everything to the left in general and the rats in particular. Unlimited power, control and funding. It is the whole package.
